“Great stay, excellent service”

Conrad is a resort style Casino-Hotel in Punta. Nice rooms, excellent service. Wifi, unfortunately not too fast, but who wants to work here, right? Just across the street from Mansa beach.

Room Tip: Playa Mansa side rooms have a great view of the beah and city.

We enjoyed the Conrad. It's larger and more touristy than other hotels in the area, but it wasn't overwhelming by any means. Many Urugayans and Argentinians seemed to be staying at the hotel for their holiday. Several amenities, great pool - although there were a bit too many kids running and splashing about for my taste.

Drinks are overpriced at the bar unfortunately. Service takes a while as well, but since we were enjoying the sun and holiday, we tried to be a little moer laid back.

Rooms were nice - we were upgraded and had a nice view of the beach and pool.. The decor was a bit dated, but it was clean and pleasant.

Lobby is the most flashy part of the hotel I would say. Casino is small. Service was very friendly and helpful.

Nice to have a complimentary breakfast.. however be forwarned that people line up just to get in to the restaurant. You must give the hostess your room number to be put on the wait list and it could be anywhere from 5-25 minutes depending on how busy the hotel is.

Room Tip: High rooms facing the beach overlooking the pool are the best bet.

Look like a old hotel in Las Vegas, it's a Cassino Hotel, a big one, the staff is snobe and indiferent. It's expensive, last year we went there to have diner with a friends. If you do not like games don,t stay at Conrad.

The Conrad Hotel in Punta del Este, Uruguay is AN EMBARASSMENT TO THE HILTON HOTEL CHAIN.
I stayed at the hotel from January 2-7, 2011 and to my surprise this hotel has probably one of the lowest standards I have ever seen. The hotel charged me US$ 600.00 a night for a room that was overpowered by tobacco smell. The wallpaper was ripped, giving it the look of a cheap motel. The lock on the balcony door did not work. The safe did not function (despite two requests I made at the front desk to fix it, and assurances it would). The handle of the bathroom door came off when I tried to open the door. I asked for an iron and an ironing board as this was not standard in the room. I got a cheap iron that did not warm up, and the cover of the ironing board was completely stained to the point of repulsion. Between the bathtub and the wall tiles as well as the floor tiles there was a black filling that was quite disgusting. The night table had a small (cheap) radio that did not work because it works on a 110V and there was an adapter was supplied.
To add insult to injury, the day I checked out, they tried to charge me for the consumption of chocolates, alfajores (a local pastry), and juices that I did not have.
The breakfast was good and the dining area spacious and pleasant, but the service varied from good to total indifference, depending on the person.
If the room had cost $200 I would not have made any comments, but for $600 the room should have been impeccable. At the front desk I was told that they are in the process of renovating, but they do it slowly in the winter time (their low season).
One of my colleagues got a surprise when she checked out two days later. They wanted to charge her $650 a night despite having received a confirmation of the reservation by e-mail with the price at $600 and they also tried to charge her for the consumption of items she did not touch (nice trick, someone must be pocketing the money).
This hotel has potential. However, it seems that it is managed and staffed by totally incompetents that try to profit the most by providing a service well below expectations. Shameful !!!
This is a hotel to AVOID .

Below what we were expected when we saw the website. It is quite expensive for what is offered. The restaurant is also very expensive (more than restaurant in new york).

It tool 45 min + and multiple reminders just to get a small beer that was overpriced. We were there dec 20th which is before peak season. Cant imagine what the extra crowds will do to this place. We received a disgusting smoking room even though req non. Stains all over including ceiling and behind bidet. I didnt even want to walk on carpet. Also the Casino is the most basic as you could think of. Food horrible except bfast. That was nice. Also the concierge was very helpful.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. This hotel is supposed to be the "hot spot" in Punta but its totally run down. The lobby and pool are nice but the rooms remind me of 1970's miami beach - cheesy and worn. In need of a renovation. I wouldn't return.
