My wife and I ate here on 4/18/13 prior to a concert at the casino. We arrived early, about 8 PM, and were the first people there.

Alejandro was our server, and while he spoke little engligh, he was very helpful and allowed us to taste the house wine, which we passed on in favor of another suggestion (which was awesome!)

The food was very good, and the service excellent! when we were ready to leave, we asked for a photo of the chefs & Alejandro, and they gladly obliged!

I ate here for the first time today and had a good meal. Dishes include paella (Ur$540/US$27 to Ur$840/US$42), pasta (Ur$450/US$22 to Ur$700/US$35), meat and fish. Plain fish dishes are offered for Ur$380/US$19 for brotola to Ur$580/US$29 for salmon. I had the brotola, which was mis-translated on the menu as "cod," but is actually a local fish that's similar to flounder and plaice. It was very good and very fresh. There are a number of optional sauces for the fish, all for about Ur$140/US$7. The chicken cutlet in citrus sauce was tasty, but there was very little sauce, being more of a glaze. The wine list started at Ur$500/US$25 per bottle. This was one of the few restaurants in Punta that we found that offered wine by the glass (Ur$165/US$8). We had a pitcher of sangria for Ur$435, which was a bit too sweet, but was perfect after we asked for some additional ice. As is usual for Uruguay, there was a Ur$60/US$3 per person cover charge. Two main courses, a pitcher of sangria and a 1/2 liter of bottled water came to Ur$1775/US$89 with cover, tax and 10% tip, in line with similar restaurants in the area.

We have three times there. The last time, when we went with people know from the owner, it was really good. But without them it was twice a disappointing. The waiters didn't tell us that the dishes were very big, even we asked. So we ordered starters and principal. When the starters came we wanted to cancel the principal. Impossible. Then they wanted to sell us the most expensive wine an so on. We tried it a second time after having made a reservation. We had to wait a long time getting one table and the waiters were all the time in hurry. Can only recommand to spend the money in other nice places in Punta.

We went for dinner even though we heard they are busy and popular for late-lunch. We went "early" around 8PM because we hadn't eaten all day. No one was there when we got there but was packed when we left around 11PM.
I wanted to order everything that I saw the waiters take to others' tables. The fish, the meat - all of it! I ordered the entrecot (meat) with a foie gras sauce. AMAZING. The meat was cooked perfectly - pink/red in the middle and a little crunch on the corners. The foie gras sauce complimented the meat and the grilled vegetable side was not overlooked. Also ate a gazpacho and it was smooth, fresh and had a kick to it. Maybe not worth almost $20 but in Punta, double any "normal" New York price. 3 young girls: app, plate and a bottle of wine = $170. They bring a basket of freshly baked bread - and keep bringing it the whole time you are sitting there. The compliments to the bread are tasty. Definitely worth it!

Lo de Charlie is the fish place. You want fresh fish, you got it ,and its good. They will cook your fish, your way. This is another restaurant that has been in Punta del Este for many years, and the reason is because its always good.
