“New La Marea disappoints”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

We have gone to La Marea for many years and loved it. We found the new building a big disappointment. The place lost its charm and is incredibly noisy, where maintaining a conversation is a real challenge. Food and personnel are as good as always. I hope they do something about the noise and change the lights arrangements.

“Fresh seafood at reasonable prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2012

The place is quite simple considering Punta del Este standards but the quality of the seafood is great... The dishes are for all kind of tastes... You can have only fried stuff as well only grilled (at parrilla). Experience the mejillones a la provenzal as appetizer and then go for the fish of the day made at the parrilla (fire). This last time we had a corvina negra a la provenzal made at the parrilla, the size was more than enough for both of us and tasted so fresh, amazing. The salads are very good as well. Waitresses are very nice.
We recommend and next time we'll be there as well...

“Excellent service and value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2011

The food was terrific and the friendly service over the top...a great find and good value in what can be an overpriced area! Order one of the daily specials and enjoy fresh, delicious seafood.

“Not what it used to be”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2010

Great location at the port with reasonable prices (for Punta del Este) but the quality is not what it used to be. The corvina a la parrilla, that used to be delicious and exceptionally fresh is now barely OK.
