Went out on the cruise with friends, one of which was care worn at the time. Sailing out and taking in the views of the coastline - particularly past some of the palm-tree islands which are reminiscent of the Indian Ocean is very relaxing. Once the catamaran docked walked over the island to the lovely 'lagoon' where the tide is not so strong and swimming is wonderful. Cruised back with lovely music, some people dancing certainly lifted everyone's mood.

Booked a day on this great Catamaran with my family visitors. It was interesting, fun, relaxing and we had a fab view from the water we would never have seen otherwise. We chose a cool pkg that included unlimited bubbly and that made the trip. One of the best values ever in Abu Dhabi.

Had a fantastic time off the Abu Dhabi coast cruising under the sun; very friendly staff. Food/drinks and entertainment provided. A great way to discover Abu Dhabi from the water when you don't have your own boat.

On arrival at the dock, we were pleasantly greeted by staff and once on board the vessel it looks nice, clean and tidy.

There are 4 seating areas with shade protection and then some bean bags at the front fully exposed, which caters for both kinds of traveller (sun worshippers and non). Be aware that the shaded areas are extra to book, 50 Aed pp so if there are older travellers or people who can't take the sun they should be aware.

The outward boat trip element was fine, there is something quite nice and calming about a boat trip and there were no issues, non alcoholic drinks on demand etc

When we docked on an island we were informed that we would stay here for 2 hours. Normally I wouldn't mind a walk around a nice beach but there isn't enough here to justify it apart from some bushes, some remnants of bbq's and some rubbish which we were encouraged to collect and bring back to the boat.

During this time lunch was served and this was some sandwiches which was fine for a light lunch.

There was a young girl who was celebrating her birthday and her family organised some cake which was shared by everyone
- a large number of passengers later thanked her father (who I thought to be a local) for organising the day, so he obviously knew many of the passengers.

Unfortunately, it was at this point that the problems started. Firstly the music was turned up really loud but as it was for a birthday song we said nothing.

Once the birthday song was over we had expected the volume to return to normal but unfortunately this did not happen and it seemed the father had now taken control of the sound system and was playing club music from his iPhone (some of it distorted by potentially being recorded from podcasts etc with different volumes) - the music itself was not unpleasant, the volume was, since we could not even hear the people we were speaking to.

When we asked the crew to turn this down, the passenger who was the father of the young girl became angry and approached our group and in a raised voice enquired why we had asked for the volume to be lowered and 'why were we trying to control the people'. When we said we couldn't hear ourselves he suggested we go sit elsewhere, we replied we had paid extra to sit where we were. He went and turned it back up with a threat of repercussions if it got lowered again.

Thankfully by this stage we are sailing back and there was only a short amount of time left.

A couple of things come to mind:

1) Everyone's taste is different, music should be bland, inoffensive and in the background.

2) If you are planning an event such as a birthday then hire the whole vessel and do as you please on the day. You should not impose your wishes on fellow passengers who have paid for their trip.

3) Not sure what the crew connection was but the local liked to think himself a sailor, running around doing ropes and sails etc - they should have been in charge (and were for the most part) but should have not allowed to tamper with equipment and affect everyone else's experience.

I don't usually give bad reviews and I don't think this review is bad it's simply telling others to be cautious about booking.

My suggestions for the company would be;

1) If you are aiming at the boat party market, then do so but market it as such - there will be people interested in partying on the boat and on the island.

2) The experience needs something on the island - Eg bring a jet ski and let people have a go (you'd be surprised the impact it could have on the business)

3) Be aware of all your customers needs. Some people were having alcohol etc, we were not - should have indicated we were a sedate group not partying and clubbing animals, so control the music accordingly.

Decide which market to serve, family or party, and stick to it.

It would be unfair for me to say I did not enjoy some elements, the sunset was lovely and the boat trip was good.

There's been some great reviews on here so I guess others did not have the same experience as me and that's good news - just wanted to make fellow travellers aware.

To have a seat costs an extra 50 Diram. I didn't really mind but it felt like a rip off.

"Lunch" consisted of some very tired sandwiches and dry croissants, followed by dry cup cakes.

Sailing on the boat was nice until the music got ramped up to night club levels. We asked for it to be turned to a reasonable level many times (it really was deafening). The Dutch tour guide had a friend on board who responded by being extremely aggressive and threatening.

The "highlight" is spending 2 hours on an island. Yes it was an island. Not an attractive island. Not an island with anything to see or do. But it was an island.

I'd never do this again. Avoid.
