It is an out of the way location and my taxi driver had difficulty find it, but it was worth the journey from Abu Dhabi City.
The restaurant is in the club house overlooking the driving range. In spring on a weekday evening there were very few guests there.
The service was a little slow but then you would not be going to this location for a quick bite to eat anyway. You are forced to unwind and enjoy the gardens. We had a wobbly table (fixed by some paper under one side) and also the lighting was not initially on, despite it being dark, so it was difficult to read the menu.
The main downside was the service with a really basic mistake in that the waiting staff who had to be reminded about the missing bits of our order. One curry came but not the other. The starter dish came at the same time as most of the main courses and the side dish.
Nice bread and butter, which was topped up too.
The menu was very good and varied. Only one food item was not available (avocado).
My friends enjoyed their Sri Lankan prawn curries. Another had a prawn cocktail salad whereas I had a salad with goat cheese, pumpkin and lentils.
There is an extensive wine list. Wine by the bottle was not too expensive and we had a thoroughly pleasant evening. I am not sure if I would like this place as much if I had to stay inside, but out on the terrace it was a very pleasant relaxing evening with good food that didn't break the bank.
No taxis were there outside when we came to leave, which shows how quiet this place is. I think the golf club/restaurant should be taking steps to ensure there is at least one taxi waiting or offer to call a cab for guests who need it.
