I have been staying at this hotel for various periods from 1988 until now. During that period it has had various names including Radisson SAS, Sheraton Hotel, Sheraton Apartments until the current title Khalidya Hotel (locally still known as Sheraton Khalidya). My wife and I really like staying here and generally stay for 2 1-2 months or longer, but it is equally good for a shorter visit.

Yes, it is an older property, but we keep coming back because it is convenient, comfortable and good value plus as noted by other reviewers the staff are pleasant.

If you are staying for a longer period do try and get an Executive Suite with kitchenette area, and of course a Corniche View it is worth the extra cost (separate lounge and bedroom area) it for the extra space and convenience of having cooker hob for the occassional home cooking. If you are a family you can also esily get an extra bed in the lounge area.

Key plus points are
Location - 5 minutes walk from the main beach, handy for supermarkets and easy to grab a cab to get anywhere,
Comfort - one of the most comfortable beds ever!
Spacious - older property = bigger rooms,
Staff - experienced and friendly and if you have a problem they will sort it.

Downsides
Ok some of the equipment and furnishings in the common areas are worn, but who spends much time in those areas??
3rd Avenue Pub on the ground floor, could be very pleasant but spoilt by the absence, or ineffective air cleaning system - the air is always loaded with smokey atmosphere even when the place is empty, but you have a choice plenty of other options in the city, just a walk or cab ride away

One of the best hotels ive stayed in.
Firstly the welcoming was very warm by staff and the cystal chandeliers and view of the lobby are to die for.

the room was fantastic too. Very homely and spacious bathroom. Refrigerator and microwave was included within the room and complimentary gifts were good too. Included a comb (",)

Only negative about room is that wifi was not included in price unless used on the hotel television. And also city view consisted of a building site to the right but a beautiful mosque to the right.

Outdoor area was very nice, very relaxing.

foodnis very pricey but buffet was amazing, well worth the price.

Room Tip: City view consists of a building site

Stayed here as it is local to the offices I was visiting in Ruwi.

Nice hotel, rooms I bit basic, but clean & tidy.
Not the quietest of hotels (walls a bit thin, doors easy to slam etc.) but more than acceptable.

Room service is very efficient and portions are huge!
Can't comment as to the restaurants, as mainly ate out with others.

Staff are very helpful and can offer many suggestions as to what to do / where to go etc.

All in all, would defiantly stay again for business.

I liked this Hotel we stayed for 3 nights and found all staff helpful and friendly, the English bar was a welcome relief for my husband who could finally enjoy a pint of Stella and the food was great too. Room service was fast friendly and very reasonable (this coming from someone who wasnt sure about exchange rates and values before travelling) The only downside was the rooftop pool was not heated. As a family we would stay here again the room was comfortable and provided all you needed after a day exploring.

Room Tip: get the a/c so that you can set it yourself as automatic is a pain during the night if you feel the cold
