“Good all round business hotel”
Reviewed July 14, 2011

Stopped for 4 nights whilst on business in Abu Dhabi.

I was put in a newly renovated room with a view over the Corniche and out to the Gulf. The room was very well decorated, big flat screen, sofa and all the usuals. Only drawbacks were: you have to pay for internet access at outrageous rates (even the lowly, nearby Novotel throws that in for free - I'd expect better from the Royal Meridien) and the design of the bathroom means that you need to build a wall with towels to avoid flooding the whole bathroom when you shower (I think this is a design glick as it doesn't look like its meant to be a wet room).

The Royal Meridien has decided to close its outdoor pool all summer to allow it to put up an Iftar tent. Unfortunately that just leaves the very small indoor pool which is only really of interest to kids. The gym is also smaller than I'd expected from such a big 5* hotel.

The hotel does however have some of the best selection of places to eat and drink in AD.

Would not hesitate to stay again - at the right price.

This hotel has everything you need, from dining to entertainment. I have stayed here many times in the past four months and I can’t remember any bad incident happened to me while I was there. The rooms are clean and spacious with beautiful sea view (I like to close all light and enjoy the view at night). Bath room is clean with enough towels. Room service, house keeping and front office are all professional and friendly. There was one time I remember my bed was 2 single mattress combined to form king size. It was uncomfortable for us. I passed my comment to the management before going out shopping and when I came back it was already changed. If you want to relax and enjoy your time I really recommend this hotel. Whether you are SPG member or not you will be treated nicely and respectfully. I also recommend it for families with kids.
Many thanks to all front office employees and duty manager Mr. Ahmed.

Room Tip: Try to avoid corner rooms, there nothing much to see. it' not full glass wall

We stayed here while visiting our daughter on a work assignment to Abu Dhabi. Our daughter was staying here so we naturally wanted to stay at the same hotel and we are very glad we did. Our 11th story deluxe "corner" room was very affordable with a beautiful view from the windows all along one entire wall facing the Arabian Gulf. It also had a separate living area and kitchenette which was very nice. The service was impeccable, the location was great, and we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our daughter had the standard room and wished she had ours. I recommend paying the little bit extra...

I stayed for a couple of busy days in June 2011. The hotel impresses with an impressive foyer and a slick checking in facility. Concierge services could not be more helpful. P J's bar is a relaxing place by the pool. The only other facilities used were the excellent breakfast which kicked the day of well. My broom was spotless with ample room and , quite possibly, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in (I just wish I'd had more time in it. Altogether a very comfortable base from which to operate.

This is very much a business hotel, right in the centre of Abu Dhabi. Rooms were hit & miss - the Royal Towers were very comfortable but bothered by noise from the nearby bar & not so great a view. Staff & food at most of the restaurants all excellent - staff in general a bit lack-lustre & found breakfast at main dining restaurant a bit dull. Anywhere else this would be a very good hotel but with the high standards in the UAE it needs to do a little bit more to be up there with the best.

Stayed at this hotel as a 2 and a half night stop over on the way from Japan to the UK. Everything went very smoothly: we arrived at 4 in the morning looking slightly jaded after an 11 hour flight, taxi doors whisked open, luggage straight to the rooms and a super quick check in.
We didn't book for breakfast but did eat at Amalfi one night and L'Opera for lunch. Both had good food and excellent service. We also had a drink at the Irish bar as it was happy day - band playing and very busy.
The room was spacious and clean with a very comfy bed. The air con was fierce (this seemed to be the case in all of Abu Dhabi) and I would have preferred a remote for the controls but this is a very minor point.
I liked the pool area - clean and tidy, lifeguard on duty and huge towels. I didn't use the gym but my partner did and said it was fine.
Taxis always seemed to be about or produced very quickly. We used the hotel limo service to go to the mosque as I wanted them to wait for us. It probably cost more than a taxi but was a calmer experience for a passenger!
My only gripe - not free internet unless we upgraded. Had got a bargain deal on the room so didn't want to upgrade. Not a problem for two days but would be on a longer stay.

the only silver lining to this hotel was its restaurant 'Oceans', its a seafood restaurant which had pretty good food. Overall, the spa was disappointing and the service wasnt great either. The view from the room was fantastic. I didnt think it was value for money though.
