So glad Trip Advisor helped us arrange tours with EA tours during our 20 hour layover in Abu Dhabi. Sudheer picked us up from the airport and took us around the city during the morning. The Grand Mosque was a highlight. As we had children and were a it tired, he adjusted our city tour according to our needs. We were dropped off at Emirates Palace for lunch and then picked up again for the desert tour. SO FUN! Very memorable for our 9 and 12 year old boys with dune bashing and sand boarding. great dinner and fun for all. would do it again tomorrow. We were so exhausted yet so energized by this day. price was also a great value.

I have been on one other sunset safari before (the first time was in Qatar), and that trip paled in comparison to this one. Let me start by explaining that this trip may not be for everyone. If you tend to get motion sick, don't like fast (or somewhat reckless) driving, would rather not be around smelly animals, and don't enjoy getting sand in your shoes, you will have a terrible time.

However . . . if you enjoy a bit of adventure, like roller coasters, love to drive fast, dune bash, and are ready for a look into a different culture, you won't be disappointed. We went on this trip with a group of friends (all in our late 20s - mid 40s), and we all loved it. In my opinion, this trip is a whole lot more fun with a group of friends/family (versus by yourself or as a couple) because it's fun to see how different people react to everything. Our driver, Basheer, was a super nice guy. Yes, he drove really fast during the dune bashing - however, we loved it. Quite early into the trip, we realized (after several skillful moves) that he knew what he was doing, and we sat back and just went with it, screaming and laughing all the way. My one negative comment is that I wish they would put less people in the vehicles. Other reviewers are right . . . the SUVs are more comfortable with 4-5 people. Six is kind of pushing it. We had 6 people in each SUV, and it was a bit squishy. It was a good thing we were all friends!

In my opinion (based on my former experience with the similar trip in Qatar), the half day trip is a good value for the money. We had a chance to do a lot of fun stuff, and they didn't charge us any extra (though we did leave a tip for the henna painting). We also went to a camel farm (and petted the camels), got some great pictures of the sun setting out in the desert, rode a camel, tried on some local clothing, did the henna painting, some in the group tried "sand" boarding (on a snow board) and smoking the hookah, talked with a man who brought his hawks/falcons, and tried our hand at belly dancing. As others mentioned, the soft drinks and water were free. I noted that another reviewer said they handed out the drinks as if they were gold at dinner - thankfully, this wasn't our experience. I had about 3 waters and 1 Diet Coke, and they were very nice. Dinner itself was pretty good - the Arabic food was overall ok, but the rice and kebabs were very good. The bread pudding was a little soggy, but then again, I'm not a bread pudding fan anyway.

They also had a pretty decent restroom out there, which we appreciated after a longish ride doing the dune bashing. All told, we had a great time, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. So far, during our trip, it's been one of my favorite trips/things to do in Abu Dhabi. One tip - don't eat for about an hour before the trip (just in case you do get ill while dune bashing), bring a bottle of water with you, and make sure you use the bathroom before you leave. It will be several hours before you see a bathroom, so this last tip is very important.

First of all the driver was late picking us up and with no apology I might add. The driver drove to fast to get to the meeting point and didnt listen to our request to slow down.
When we got to the desert, the desert driving was really rough and we all asked for the driver to go slower but he just laughed and went faster. Total disrespect to us and our experience. Our discomfort was to his amusement. Poor service!

Booked their half day desert safari. We were picked up at the hotel in a 4x4, the last of 6 passengers. Firstly these vehicles are only designed for 4 adults and 2 children, they squeezed 5 adults and the driver into the vehicle. They squeezed us into the fold down kiddy seats in the back. The driver while apologetic sort of blamed us for not telling them we were adults. The dune bashing was exciting for a while, but it got a it tedious and the driver seemed to enjoy the complaints of the passengers. We visited a camel farm for a photo op, then continued dune bashing again. When we arrived at our desert camp, we were left on our own to self serve tea/coffee and water. They handed out soft drinks as if they were gold. It was Ramadam, so Hena painting and belly dancing were cancelled. Not recommended. Maybe another compnay does it better.

I seriously think this is a must do activity for all the tourists visiting any Arab countries. You get to know the culture of arabs. Also this a great adventure activity for 1 full day. Riding on a 4x4 over the sand deserts and small hills is fun and entertaining. Be sure u carry lot of water and apply good quality sunscreen lotions as the temperature is quite hot. I will opt for desert safari again if I am again in Abu dhabi.
