“Great resort with excellent value for money!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

I had the chance to stay 3 nights at St Regis Saadiyat in July.

Positive things:
* shuttle service to the Grand Mosque and to Marina Mall (on fixed hours)
* great beach (but seawater is not refreshing at all during the summer months :-))
* gorgeous rooms (mine: superior seaview), very nice bathrooms with a lot of daylight, nice stand alone bathtub next to the window, huge rainshower etc. Beds were top as well! Butlerservice included in all room categories (= St Regis standard)
* nice and original F&B outlets (Sontaya is very romantic, the steakhouse is one of the best in AUH), nice buffets and a lot of choise at the main restaurant Olea restaurant
* very good and extensive breakfast buffet !!
* free wifi in the entire resort with good reception
* nice adults only area with (smaller) pools, jacuzzi's, private sitting areas etc
* stunning Health Club with nice indoor lap pool and fantastic Technogym fitness

Negative ones:
* main restaurant Olea can be very noisy and overcrowded especially during weekends and high occupancy periods... a lot of familes with children as well. Dessert buffet can sometimes be messy.
* lack of a good pool service, we stayed their in July (so very humid and hot) and not even a free bottle of water or other refreshing aminities
* a pity that the adults pool is not beachfront located (as the family pool is)

You surely have to visit the Al Manarat centre located at 5' from the hotel with 2 (complimentary) exhibitions and also a lot of information and a huge maquette of the future projects at Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat Island. Entrance is free of charge.

This is my 3rd time in this hotel. Going there three times shows how much i rate the hotel highly. Let us start with the basics, the room.

We took a superior room with a butler service. The room was (as usual) clean, spacious and very nicely designed. Really is a comfortable bed and I am personally in love with their bathroom (to the extend that I am planning to build a similar thing when I build my own home). And the butler service was perfect. Dial 0 and someone knocks on your door within minutes. All our needs were met immediately and no delays. The free standing bathtub in the bathroom for me was the best thing. After a long day with the kids, nothing beats filling that bathtub with warm water and just relaxing there. The bathtub is BIG.

This time we have not tried any of the restaurants in the hotel as we opted to explore the restaurants in the Collection mall which is a minute walk from the hotel. I recommend the Indian place as well as the Japanese there as both are amazing. However, we did have dinner one time in the hotels buffet. It was a bit disappointing. The seafood did not taste fresh and the salads looks like yesterdays left overs. Though the food was ok but these small details need to be looked at. Breakfast was good and normal. Nothing special but all the standard was there.

This is the best hotel for kids. The Sandcastle club (Kids Club) was a heaven sent to us. We had our kids playing in their pools and with their toys and in their activities and we just relaxed and observe them from far a way. Many parents left their kids there and went to their business, we opted against that and relaxing in the kids club with an eye on the kids was good enough for us. The staff there are super friendly and the life guards are fantastic with kids.

Over all, this is a fantastic hotel and if you want a break from the busy city life, spend your weekend here. Fantastic.

Room Tip: If you are a family and want to relax, this is the best hotel.

I don't know where to star as this has been my favorite hotel stay period, I went here to celebrate Eid holiday and my birthday with my fiancé, we stayed for four nights and it's been quite an experience.

- As soon as I drove my car up the hill to the entrance all I could see is the smiling faces of the staff which is very hard to do in this hot weather

- as we walk in we were seated as all check in counters were full with refreshments in hand

- check in process was very personalized, small issue regarding room choice (booking agent mistake) was rectified within seconds by the professional staff

- staff walked us all the way to the room and explained all the facilities without sounding like she said it a hundred times before

- room was amazing specially the huge toilet, bed was dreamy and amenities are brilliant

- butler introduced himself upon arrival (Mark) and no matter what we asked for he just made it happen over the next four days

- nice gift when returning from dinner by the butlers for my birthday

- butler prepared a hot bath for us every evening when we went down for dinner (tip your butlers people)

- breakfast (in the regal) and dinner (in olea) was amazing, was never bored with the food

- lunch in the room was even better than the olea experience

- dinner at Sontaya was very subpar and I don't think it represents the hotel

- we spent 3-4 hours a day by the adult pool with cocktails and it was our favorite time of the whole stay

- we used the venues just outside the hotel (Koi for drinks, the supermarket, gym)

- manhattan lounge was nice and so was an evening at tourquize (not sure about spelling)

- every single staff we met was smiling and very glad to see us, pool staff were amazing, breakfast staff is very attentive, dinner less so but very understandable as it was very busy

I stayed in every single 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi including Ritz Carlton, Jumairah Etihad Towers and others, also stayed in lots other all over the UAE and by far this is the best hotel experience I had, it actually ruined future hotel experiences for us as I know for a fact nothing will compare. A big thank you for the hard working staff and management as this is truly one of the best reasons to visit Abu Dhabi and will do it again and again.

I am writing this review whilst I am still here on holiday (10days) we had a few technical hitch's at the beginning but after a little chat with one of the friendly managers, they haven't been able to do enough for us. It was my sons 12th birthday so one of the staff(Liz) found out what he liked a got a special cake made for him,he likes golf so they made a golf ball on the green cake,Excellent is the only way to describe it !!
We have been coming to Dubai for the past 15 years and at one stage visit Dubai 3/4 times a year with the family, Dar al masyaf and the Burj. Dubai is too busy now and way too expensive for a good hotel and not a zoo like the Atlantis.
If you want Dubai as it was 10 years ago with a natural beach I've found it for you, this is the place you need to be. Nice and quite got an excellent adults pool and a excellent family pool which also seems to be quite. The beach is silver sand, clean and private.
The resort is also only a 10/15 drive away from the centre of town if you need a bit more variety of dining, remember this is not Dubai so not hustle no traffic just relax. It's a must if you like the sea, and a lovely secret resort for the time being !!! None of the Brits seem to know about it yet!!! There is still room for improvement on the service side but they are trying very hard.

Room Tip: You got to have a sea view room, the left wing is quieter as the family pool is on the right not tha...

We have now stayed at this property on multiple occasions, by far our favorite hotel in the UAE. Don't be influenced by the 18th ranking on trip advisor, having seen the list of hotels I have also stayed at the Emirates Palace, Shangri-La, Fairmont, Rosewood and Yas Viceroy, whilst the first three have good service none of them come close to the St Regis.

In summary, great hotel and service, location is phenomenal located on the island with a fantastic beach and sea views. There are 3 main pool areas with sufficient beds for all, the Sadiyat golf course runs around the hotel and can be booked through the hotel. Kids club is great, well equipped and very helpful and welcoming staff ( in fact the kids club staff are great ambassadors for the hotel)

Rooms are very spacious and well designed, I recommend the full sea view rooms more than big enough for 2 adults and 2 small children. What is important is the fact that the hotel pictures they advertise on the website are actually a very true and accurate reflection of what you get.

Our favorite restaurant is Sontoya, great Asian food, buffet breakfast is served at the main restaurant and of a very high standard with an excellent selection. We have unfortunately decided to give 55 and 5th a miss from now on, great looking steak and grill restaurant but they cannot seem to get the orders right.

Off course we have faced issues in the past but the hotel has always addressed them quickly, in particular we greatly appreciate the professional attitude of Evgenia - Front Office Manager who has always been very helpful and an asset to the hotel. Big thank you to Evgenia

Room Tip: If you can always book a full sea view superior room, higher the floor the better !

We stayed here for 5 days this July. I have to say, this is the best hotel I've ever been to. The hotel itself is really nice, but the staff are what make it. Super helpful and polite.
Its a fairly quiet hotel, with not much to do for really young kids, but the pool is great an the beach is nice. Excellent food!

Stayed 5 nights ,Hotel was very good great choice of food .very spacious rooms and very clean
Pool area was great and couldn't ask any more from the staff very helpful.
Staff all over the hotel was great always there to help.Beach was beautiful and clean couldn't fault it .Only fault we found was that the hotel put a few things on our bill when we checked out from the mini bar and charged us for dinner when it was included in our package and it took a few weeks to get them to give us a refund and then didn't give us the full amount .Great hotel would reconmend to anyone but make sure you check your bill when checking out.
