Amazing. The largest in the world and extremely professional. Make a reservation, for a small group. Relax, the tour is intimate and personal. Stay for an excellent private lunch. My entire family has not stopped talking about it.

The price per person is about 140 AED, somebody told it's not cheap, but you really should go there!

There will be like an excursion where you can not only see any procedures, but also to feed and to have foto with falcon))

We found out about this from a couple staying at our hotel who recommended it to us, so on our next time passing through the UAE we organised a tour through the concierge. You can opt to have hotel pickups, however we caught a taxi there to meet the tour.

If going by taxi i would suggest bringing a map as not everyone knows about it as it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere!

The great thing is this is a fully functional falcon hospital so you get to watch people arrive with their birds and check them in as you wait for the tour to start.

The birds themselves have beautiful plumage, with each adorning their own mask unique to their owner. The day we arrived, they were working through the Prime Minister's collection of falcons within the clinic.

The tour consists of a small museum walkthrough followed by a well0versed tour guide talking us through the history of falcons in the UAE (our guide did an amazing job speaking in no less than four languages).

After that we are escorted into the clinic where you will find no less than 40 birds sitting patiently on little astroturfed benches (it is amazing how they sit so calmly within close proximity of one another). There you will witness one or two medical procedures (we saw the anaesthetising and taking of blood from the wing, as well as the maintenance of beaks and claws). They showed us how they repair broken feathers by using collected feathers shed from last season.

One lucky (and brave) visitor got to feed one of the birds, and every person will have the opportunity to hold a bird (and caress if the bird lets you) and have ample photo opportunities doing so. Yes they can bite so watch out!

The staff are great and happy to answer any medical related questions people had. They supplied us with a free beverage before and after the tour which was a nice touch. Great experience for families or for anyone in veterinary science or medical fields.

The price is 170 dirham. That is approximately $46.00. For that you get about a 90 minute visit. It starts with an overview of the hospital and a bit of info on the two types of falcons there. You get a glass of juice while you listen. Then it's on to the room where you see a tech put a bird under and then clip their nails, check their wings, etc. then you get your turn to have a falcon on your arm and have your picture taken.

There were too many people there at the time I visited but I was told this is the standard amount of people. As there were only two techs demonstrating the bird pedicure each had a lot of people around all jostling each other for a view or picture.

Then we went to an aviary. I was hoping to see a demo of the birds flying skills but we just went into to the aviary, were told what the birds are fed and then to the last stop which had a small display of the birds,

Getting track and forth from the city requires a cab and that adds up to another 50. Approx.

I have seen better displays at regular zoos. The money does to to a good cause as it helps maintain the hospital.

It is a little hard to find and a little expensive, but definitely worth it. Be sure to call well ahead to reserve a spot. Water & toilets are available, but no food.
