Owner description: Manarat Al Saadiyat is the first art and culture centre of the Saadiyat Cultural District, the future home of Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. Meaning "Place of Enlightenment" in Arabic, Manarat Al Saadiyat offers a wide variety of exhibitions, performances, productions, conferences, talks and workshops throughout the day and all year-round. From the Manarat Al Saadiyat plaza visitors can admire the Norman Foster-designed UAE Pavilion, home to Abu Dhabi Art, which takes place every November. At Manarat Al Saadiyat visitors can also enjoy a gift shop and FANR restaurant.

I love visiting this arts centre, I am never disappointed with the quality of the exhibitions. The restaurant there serves wonderful food, great menu! And the beautiful landscaping and interior makes for an all-round wonderful experience. It's my favorite place in Abu Dhabi.

Worth going to - most of it is free. The Birth of a Museum exhibition has very impressive items, but it is smaller than anticipated and was for that reason disappointing, but only in quantity. Some amazing pieces! The set-up for the exhibit is extremely well done. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We even shared a few laughs about a couple of the pieces. The Saadiyat Island Exhibit is a MUST! Especially the theatre-like, kind of an amphitheatre, area which is motion-sensitive, very comfortable and has casual seating with a feature about the Saadiyat Isand process and vision that is visually spectacular. The rest of the exhibit is also worthwhile, if you skip over any of the commercial stuff in which you might not be interested. But if you are, it's there for you to review, and well-presented. In the winter, this venue will be a great Friday walk around inside and out! Do it! Avoid the restaurant - poor service staff and a manager who values paper above people.

There is always something new to see here. There is a relatively permanent exhibition on the development of the Saadiyat Cultural District with interactive displays which shows the area and the plans for it, including the Guggenheim and Louvre.
There are usually some interesting art installations and at present there is a big pile of wooden chairs which is interesting.
There are often talks and other exhibitions held at this place. On this visit I went to see the exhibition for the Louvre "Birth of a museum" showing an eclectic mix of items purchased for the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
This includes art work (mostly paintings) and historical pieces (statues, vases, photos) some dating back centuries and others more recent. This was my second visit as I had a quick look round a month ago and wanted to see it in more detail.
This is one of the few places in Abu Dhabi that the disabled have good access.
There is a restaurant in the same building, called Fanr which is licenced to serve alcohol and has outdoor seating.

OK for a first visit, but a lot of walking around involved and at 41 degrees not pleasant. Worth a look but lots of better areas now being developed.
