Had Ushna on our list of must visits for a while, finally got there last friday for lunch.....very dissapointed, nice restaurant, good views, food was on the bland side, our starter was cold which I did wonder should it have been.....after having the same starter elsewhere since, obviously it should have been hot. The staff are very friendly, but the atmosphere of the whole place is non existant. I have read that this restaurant is child free....first thing we saw on arrival was high chairs so hardly child free, this was not one of the reasons we chose to come here as we have children of our own (grown up now) as long as children behave in restaurants I have no problem, but just to warn anyone who is coming here for the no children policy, you would be in for ashock, there where more children in Ushna than any other restaurant we have been to in Abu Dhabi, so very strange to read they have a child free policy.
The food and wine is very expensive, way over the top for the wine. We will stick with other Indian restaurants in the city in future.

This place is a gem...from the stunning views of the mosque to the unbelievably flavorful cuisine to the great service. Am going back for a second time within days....HIGHLY recommend it!

Truly authentic food (Palak Paneer is fresh and creamy, butter chicken a delight, the sweet Naan with nuts and almonds ideal to scoop up all the sauce of the butter chicken), waiters have a sense of humor, waterfront terrace is good to relax during the cooler months.
Best Indian in Abu Dhabi

Ushna simply put, is the best Indian restaurant in the UAE, and everyone i know who went there swears by this fact, but it does fail to achieve the "Perfection" it deserves due to a few minor issues, which i hope get addressed in the future.

The moment you enter this place, you know you are going into a 5 star resturant, the decor is great, with outdoor and indoor seating, the atmosphere has a strong Indian feel to it and thankfully Kids are not allowed...However, i found the seating arrangements between tables too close to each other for my liking, which disappointed me.

The Food is sublime, the flavor of every spice within the dish can be felt with every bite you take. The quality of food beats the hell out of any Indian restaurant i've been to in the UAE (and i've been to many) The dishes can be custom made according to your requirement. Portion size are reasonable overall, but i must say a certain dish i ordered which was a "Prawns Briyani" has BARELY any Prawns in it, totally unacceptable, takes of 1 star of this review, but i'm willing to forgive them given that the other dishes exceeded by expectations.

Service is excellent, waiters are well dressed, very professional, and they know the menu in detail and are willing to explain you. They don't make a fuss or express boredom no matter how long you take, so take your time (and tip generously). Food preparation was average, about a 15min wait time, the usual complemintary indian starters are provided to keep your stomach busy till the main order arrives.

Keep in mind though that this is an expensive restaurant so expect to shell out around AED 90+ PER DISH, and an decent meal + drinks for 2 people would cost you about AED400+. But definitely worth your money.

I went to Ushna's in February and It was a great experience, the decor and ambiance is amazing. The only thing that didn't make me want to return was the food, don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good but not as good as alot of the other Indian restaurants in Abu Dhabi such as Indian Palace and Indigo.
