“50 th birthday at the fairmont”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

We returned from ths hotel on June 13 th we stayed 10 nights so ad a deal for breakfast and either a lunch or a evening meal . The hotel was spotless and the room was huge fantastic decor and very comfortable the room was also quite with little noise heard. It sits in lovely gardens and. Can walk to the souque through the hotels next door which was the traders it really s a lovely walk through the gardens ,we were going the long way around via the road until we explored further .
The hotel is a fair way out from the main city / town malls etc there are small malls closer but the marina is by bus a hour a way we caught the bus it was 2 dirhams (50p) each the bus stop is right outside the hotel opposite we could have had a axi for about £5 but we used to get off at each main stop and explore . Everything about the hotel was first class the staff would not let u do anything they would rush to help and the service was superb .
If there was nothing that would stop e from visiting again it would be the cost of drinks a the hotel and the food , breakfast and dinner is Buffett style , there were plenty of cereal , breads cake and salads and fruits to for breakfast along with toast and a omelette chef ,however bacon and sausage is a no no , dinner was Buffett also ,you had the choice of Asian , European ,Indian ad chinease and fish , it's all laid out in silver bowls and here is. Chef to serve meat and fish , every met that was served was served rare ,even when asking for a well done part it was still pink ,most nights it was various curries , meat in sauces ,salads every type of fish and lots of rice and pasta , I like simple food and I found it very difficult to find anything th was either cooked properly ie not pink or that was not pasta or rice , in 10 nights they never served potatoes or chips or jackets , there were some wedge types on few occasions but they were not cooked fully , the biggest gripe of all was that the food was never hot ,it was always Luke warm ,we tried altering time of eating from as soon as it opened to as it got later but still it was no different this was very disappointing , the cos of be food is expensive for two people to eat its £70 a night and for tis price I would expect to be able to have hot food also drinks are silly prices , we did not buy alcohol as we tend not to drink a bottle of still water was £8 a night a glass of fanta £4 it's 50 p in the local supermarket we think this was well over the top , if we had a good deal offered we would return but it would have to ba good deal , also as it was my birthday we were pro owed a ake and champagne the cake was a choc brownie which if u did not like choc was a bit disappointing as it was just goo and the champagne was never given l the hotel was full but still plenty of beds b pool etc ,but on he thurs Friday and Saturday it was very busy with all be local Arabs descending with their children so we stayed out much of the day as it was very noisy

On entry, the hotel does not really give the expected luxury feel, but once in your room woow a different experience.
Service was most of the time late, but was always rewarded with complimentary make ups.
The pool although a bit small was really a nice treat especially the jacuzzi on the side.
And lastly food is really a treat with varieties to suit all tastes.

We went there in march with another couple for my birthday. First thing when you enter the lobby is the smell, I have asked where I could get it to use in my home back in the uk....
If going apply for the gold upgrade: private gold member floor . Big and clean suites, had birthday cake plus some sweet treats upon arrival, exclusive gold member breakfast on same floor, including sandwiches, nibbles from 2 to 4pm with free drinks, then from 6.30 to 9pm dinner/canapés and free drinks, then from 11pm to 1am sweet buffet. So basically no need to buy food anywhere else .
Dedicated butler couldn't have been any more helpful , staff in general very good, not so much to do outside compare to Dubai but very relaxing and clean.
Try the Lebanese restaurant on sight, go for a Vietnamese meal at the shangri la, plus a drink or two.
Swimming pool bar excellent, been there many times during happy hour !
Will go there again for a relaxing stay.m

Room Tip: Golden floor facing the pool

9 night holiday at the Fairmont which lived up to expectations. Main positives: 1) friendly and courteous staff, 2) complementary water around pool, 3) President's Club easy to sign up for and provides complementary wi-fi, 4) Good half-board with lunch and dinner buffet extensive and sushi bar excellent, 5) Bedrooms a good size with nice view to the Zayed Mosque. 6) Happy hour at pool bar between 4-6pm. Minor negatives: 1) Some attention to detail needed for certain parts of the communal areas, some a bit tatty in parts, 2) Hotel buses although provided FOC were infrequent and journey times lenghty, 3) Other hotels in Dubai have greater restaurant choice. In summary a good choice for guaranteed sunshine in pleasant surroundings.

My husband and I have just returned home from another lovely weekend away at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. This was our second stay there. We had booked a Club Room to benefit from the additional facilties and it was money well spent. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful (in particular the Bultler Joyce) and very attentive ensuring we had everything we required. The main reception immediately escorted us to the 'Gold' reception on the 7th floor and we were promptly checked in. The afternoon tea, early evening snacks and happy hour were all excellent and far better than we have experienced elsewhere. Breakfast is also served in the club dining facilities which was a very relaxed affair compared to the very busy dining room serving the main hotel guest.
The swimming pool, whilst smaller than other hotels, was well attended but didn't feel too busy. We never ventured to the beach although it looked pleasant.
We ate at the Marco Pierre White Steak Restaurant and enjoyed the meal very much however did feel the service in the restaurant could have been more attentive, however the food was well presented and we both enjoyed our meal.
Whilst, I think, the hotel may cater more for business travellers it had everything we needed for a lovely weekend away and would not hesitate to return, again.

Room Tip: Club rooms on the 7th floor facing the beach

Booked a few rooms in January for a conference, we had made a private booking as we got a better rate than the 'discounted' conference rate..However a couple of days before we set off they simply cancelled...That was before we pointed out we were part of the conference and hosted a main event...they were obviously trying to get rid of us in order to get a better rate..if not I would love to hear their explanation and reason for indifference.... this is not the way to treat any customer...
We booked into the RITZ and our stay was fantastic, we were eventually moved across to the Fairmont so lots of unpacking and packing and messing us about.. compared to the RITZ the Fairmont felt like a 4 star hotel with smaller rooms; this is a functional hotel geared up for conferences but not a place I would want to spend a holiday...
We used the Spa and it was like a hair dressing salon with a room and table out the back....probably the worst Spa we have ever seen...

Internet is a major issue for a conference, good news was it's free, but only when it worked !!!!The restaurant was excellent, which was about the only part our visit that was enjoyed..

Did I like Abu Dhabi..yes, would I go back for a holiday...yes... would I stay at the Fairmont...NO NO NO....

Room Tip: stay at the RITZ

We were there in high season and the hotel was very busy but they were trying to do their best to help the guests enjoy their time.

Check in was not so bad despite the large number of people checking in, it took us around 30 minutes to get into our rooms, but our room got swapped with our friend's room.
We were celebrating our anniversary but because of the room swap our friends got the anniversary complimentary cake and service...but that too was fine with us.

What really bothered us, was that a fire alarm sounded and people started running in all directions. The management was not up to standards when dealing with an emergency.

We also asked for a baby cot and the newspapers several times and didn't get any for 3 days.

Overall I'm happy with the amenities, the spacious room, the pool and the overall feel in the hotel, but I find they really need to work on their service specially in high seasons.

Room Tip: sea view rooms from 3rd floor and above (have a better view of the sea and Sheikh Zayed mosque)
