“Nice for a bus trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Since we are not from the country; we chose to stay at the hotel coz my wife was invited to attend a wedding over there. However, the hotel is nice for those coming for a business trip or short period. The rooms are very small, the kindly upgraded us to a suite and it was like a deluxe room on other hotel. I think only one restaurant at the hotel open for breakfast but has like a small market provide light meal. For me when I traveled I look for a hotel provide me all needed as location, spa, swimming pool, restaurants in case don't want to go out. Beside the room has to be bigger and more classy than what on this hotel. The people working over there are very very friendly. If I visit abo Daubi again ill choose other hotel not because the hotel is bad but becase i don't find what I'm looking.

Dear Nowaiser, thank you for sharing your point of view about your stay with us. Indeed, although, our hotel is designed to accommodate and cater for the new generation of business traveler, we are very much visited as well by guests searching for a brief informal, fresh, fun, different but at the same time sophisticated in design and service leisure/ business location where they can enjoy a lively atmosphere with great vibe and all this with the best value. We are very happy that you noted the usual warm and friendly approach of our staff. With regards to our room size, with 38 sqm average, they are actually above standard of most of the hotels in the country. From your comments we believe you are looking more for the traditional 5 start luxury hotel. Nevertheless if you do change your mind and wish to enjoy more of the outside of the box cool experience with functional rooms, free wi-fi and fabulous service please let us know as it would be a pleasure to welcome you back soon. Best wishes! Rainer

Very quirky in design and def of new age concept. Building and rooms great. Check in was very disappointing as the staff were obviously on a commission to plug various bars and restaurants. They tried to force deals that quite frankly I did not want. I had to resort to shouting to find out what the base package was
I can see what was in it for them as the dining was very expensive and even a cup of tea was deemed an extra (5 pounds for cup black tea)

Otherwise ok.

Hello adam m, thank you for staying with us and for your time to post this review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and fancied our funky design and our modern & spacious rooms. We do regret you were given a wrong perception of our receptionists when all they were offering was an upgraded package of internet, high floor room, breakfast and two beverages per day, which is only a benefit for the guest. You will appreciate this from the previous review to yours. With regards to our prices, they are actually very competitive compared to other hotels of our category. Please let us know when you are back as we will be delighted to welcome you and explain further the concept of the package offered to you and discuss any further concerns. Moreover we are sure you will fully enjoy our warm service and splendid facilities. Best wishes! Rainer

I stayed there for the Abu Dhabi Medical conference and the proximity to the conference centre was a big part of the choice.
There was a deal on booking.com for the 'Sweet suite' and the room size was good with 3 windows, nice bathroom etc.
Breakfast was not included (typical with Booking!!) and internet was chargeable - which is such a money spinner. That said the hotel offered a 'package at AED129 for breakfast, internet and 2 drinks per day at the XYZ bar. When the internet is AED80, drinks usually AED40 (x2) and breakfast it is a deal worth having.
Only main downsides were the coffee machine wasn't restocked in 3 days I was there, the minibar was empty, there were stains in the seat and the window blinds had come adrift from the guides.
Nice place, but maintenance could be improved (especially in such a new hotel)

Room Tip: Suites are quite good.

Hello there Keith1955! Thanks for your time and for choosing our hotel during the medical conference. Always great to receive a nice review from a Trip Advisor Top Contributor who was been travelling and visiting many hotels. We are glad you enjoyed your sweet suite and had a successful stay with us. Also, thank you for choosing our upgraded package for the enhanced internet speed, breakfast and the two beverages per day within all hotel venues. Our internet is actually free of charge. However we do offer internet with enhanced speed up to 3mb or 8mb for a charge, which is what you took with your package. We are of course disappointed to learn about the unusual breakdown in room inspection procedure. Of course the three issues you mention should have been immediately noted and corrected. Our sincere apologies for this. With regards to our minibars, they are actually fridges, designed for the use of our guest’s own food & beverage with the additional alternative of calling our delivery service who will stock up the fridge with your choice of our products from the re:fuel take a way gourmet deli. We really hope to have you back with us soon so you can notice how we have corrected your concerns and I have no doubt we will get the full score on this website from your side. Most importantly, we are delighted to welcome you back when your plans bring you to Abu Dhabi. Best wishes! Rainer

We booked this hotel at the very last minute before flying out to Abu Dhabi. So glad we did. The room was big, trendy and had a fab bathroom. Slept great. Next morning enjoyed a few hours sunbathing at the pool. Sorry to leave and wished we had planned in more nights as the hotel has a lot to offer with it's fresh and innovative design.

Room Tip: Breezy Suite was big and bright.

After a terrible experience with another hotel in Abu Dhabi canceling my booking without prior notice and having to find another at 3 AM - Aloft was the only place I preferred to stay.

My second stay - both stays were to attend concerts in Abu Dhabi - I had the same super satisfying experience as I did the first time. The staff are always super friendly and helpful - yes it can be a little busy but you know they'll help as soon as they can.

The rooms I've stayed in have always been super clean and comfortable.

The hotel feels safe to roam around at any time of the day and night -

And I must say, after a terrible experience so late at night after a red-eye flight, it was delightful to see a friendly Aloft face!

The service is nice, the room is pretty small the partition occupies all the space. Decent place to stay if you are going for a business trip. Location is nice a bit far from the main city. Close to Zayed Mosque, located right in the middle of exhibition halls. Looks like a 3 star. More of a money making hotel than a relaxing one. Toilets don’t have a lock which was a bit annoying if you are staying with a family.

Hi Aueno, thank you for chosing our hotel and thank you for posting this review. We appreciate your note about our good service, it is great that you have enjoyed it. In reference to our rooms size, with 38sqm in average, it is important to clarify that they are bigger than most of the 4 and even 5 start hotels in Abu Dhabi. We hope we have the chance to welcome you back soon to our hotel, all the team will be looking forward to it. Thank you again and best wishes! Rainer on behalf of the team!

Alas this is my first negative review of a Starwood property in a long long time. A modern looking hotel that was opened nearly two years ago is already in decay mode in terms of room upkeep and condition. But it comes as no surprise given the inferior level of service, very specifically from the managerial staff, the people supposedly running the show.

The location is undoubtedly inconvenient on a good day because it is within the exhibition center grounds. You need to take a taxi to almost any place with some action in town. The closest venue will easily cost you 6-7 bucks (not dirhams!!) each way + the hassle. To make matters worse, it can take five minutes for you to get in and out of a cab because the driveway to the hotel can be jammed by two or three cars at a time since it is only one lane wide so the meter can run while you're stuck. I said on a good day because even without any exhibition during my stay, the front desk staff were so overwhelmed and lost that I can only imagine how utterly miserable they will be during a major event and how dreadful it would be to stay at the Aloft in Abu Dhabi during an exhibition with the heat and humidity of this city. Getting in and out of the hotel promises to be an exercise in patience. My advice is to avoid this place unless you have no other option which was my situation.

There are a couple of night clubs on the 12th floor that are only accessible from the same elevators that the hotel guests use. What this means is that while taking the elevator to my floor, there were often suspiciously seedy characters at night (who were" obviously" not hotel guests coming from outside) Hardly a match with the many children of hotel guests. Not a good combination in my book. The noise from the night clubs can be heard with the bass thumping in your room if you're staying in the higher floors.

The furniture in the room had several stains on it and a couple on the rug so one can tell that maintenance is not a concern of the hotel management. And that is plain sad because the hotel is a very nice and new one but feels like an antiquated decade-old hotel!!

But not everything was bad during my stay: the Refuel food bar is neat and convenient with a nifty selection/format and the staff there are so helpful and professional they can teach the hotel managers a thing or two about good service and making an effort to make a guest's stay special and pleasant. Their cheese & tomato bagel is heavenly.

I tried the "Dine" restaurant for breakfast and regretted it because it was expensive and the staff were rude and in most cases spoke little English. The exception would be "Hasnat" who whips a wicked omelette with a smile to light up anyone's morning.

Mai Cafe and the pool area are the only other redeeming features of this downhill property. The staff (day and night shifts) are terrific and super friendly. The food selection & quality are top shelf. Thanks to all of you and the gentleman who makes the shisha. You made my stay pleasant.

Room Tip: Avoid the higher floors because the music from the night club can be disturbing and heard inside the...

Dear HappyTimes2011, I would firstly wish to thank you for taking the time to post this extensive review expressing the very positive points and also the challenges encountered during your stay. We are all glad to read that you enjoyed our variety and quality of food at the re:fuel grab n go venue and at the Dine and Mai Cafe restaurants. It is of course great that our staff there was friendly, efficient and accommodating. It obviously concerns us that other points did not meet your expectations. We wish to clarify these topics and regain your trust in us. The Aloft Hotel is now 4 year old and established itself since October 2009 as one of the leading four star Hotels in Abu Dhabi, we are sorry that this was not the perception received. Further to our location, the city has grown to our side and you find all sort of businesses and attractions around here. The newest and one of the biggest Malls in Abu Dhabi has opened 5 minutes away from us (Mushrif Mall) and we do have important landmarks around us such as Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (5min), all major embassies (2min), Ferrari World (15 min), Yas Water World (15 minutes), Yas Marina Circuit (15 min) or the Abu Dhabi Golf Club (10min). As a matter of fact there is plenty to do in the area. Downtown Abu Dhabi is only 15 to 20 minutes away and with the airport at just 15 minutes away we can say that we are actually close to most important landmarks. It is true that the exhibition period gets the inflow of traffic to very high levels which makes it a challenge to reach our main entrance rapidly, however now with the new driveway being separated from the main driveway to the central plaza of the exhibition centre, I can assure that this issue has been resolved. We regret that you got a wrong perception about our reception. As you can imagine, most of the months are characterized by big exhibition business and with a 408 bedroom hotel, they are used to handling big volumes of check-ins in an extremely efficient and personalized way, we apologize if this was not your case. With regards to the rooms condition, the hotel operates a maintenance plan to rectify issues such as the stains on the furniture and carpets. I agree that you shouldn't have had these in the room and can assure that by now they would have been removed. The only night club on the 12th floor has an exclusive and separate elevator that serves it. Nevertheless this is now being used for refurbishment material of the roof top terrace to avoid disturbing our guests at the usual guest lifts.
Once again we apologize for the incorrect image perceived from our hotel and will contact you directly to understand and get more details about your point of view of the management . We are confident that we can change your opinion and make you join the majority of the excellent reviews on this website with an absolute true experience of what Aloft Abu Dhabi is all about. We will be happy to discuss your return to our hotel and would delighted to give a warm welcome back. Thank you again for your time and best wishes! Yours sincerely, Rainer
