The Grand Mosque is not located in the centre, but when you're short in time, for a business trip or short stopover you can easily take a detour on your way from the airport to your (hotel) destination. It is along the way from the airport to the city centre (corniche), just let your taxidriver make a detour and wait for you at the mosque for a few dirhams more. We spend about 30 minutes for a quick visit.
Don't forget to wear long sleeves and for woman something like a scarf. You can borrow a dress if you forget, but a hooded sweater will do also.

Same way as the Taj Mahal - it really has the wow factor.

Tour guides a we're fun, informative and sensitive to questions who knew little about Islam.

This is a must do for visitors to Abu Dhabi and it's free.

We cab from Dubai cost 198AED and got there when it open. I wore a long skirt, long sleeve and used a black scarf over my head. The Mosque is beautiful and spotless with pretty chandeliers. The staff inside were nice. Glad I went early because half an hour later there were plenty of tourists.

It is a must visit if you are in or around Abu Dhabi. It's construction, architecture, size and beauty is totally mesmerizing. I was fascinated by its wonderful interiors that are very well maintained. Exteriors are equally beautiful too and the ponds around the mosque are icing on the cake. There is no entrance fee. I would recommend taking the free audio tour since it tells you great facts and helps you understand the details of this place in much more depth. Also, there is a dress code to be followed both by males and females. No shorts for guys, and, full sleeves & scarves recommended for girls. For females, in case you are not in acceptable attire, you can get an Abaya at the entrance.
