We had seen a television program about the construction of this Mosque and when we went to see it were not disappointed has to be one of the most wonderful buildings in the world even the gents toilets were like a palace

We visited this on the way to our hotel after an early morning flight arrival. Arrived about 20 mins before it officially opened. Now in most most other mosques/churches/castles etc I have visited this owuld mean you can enjoy the gardens and exterior before opening. However, the guards here wont let you walk around and neither can you take a picture, you have to wait until you can go inside, to take a photo of the outside. Ludicrous!
We have been to many mosques in places such as Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bosnia and they are pleasant places to spend time in the courtyards, however here that experience is denied, also there did not seem to be many people in the place actually practicing their religion, it was just tourists which detracted from the feel slightly.
However, this place is very nice with a beautiful front and interesting insides. Dress code is stricter than Istanbul mosque visits (long shorts not allowed), but same as some other Muslim countries. It is free which is great as well, and despite my moaning, it is nice to be allowed inside as in some places (Gambia) we were not allowed into mosques unless we were muslim.
Highly recommended, but please organisers sort out the stupid opening issues as it gives a bad impression to people who have have just got off the plane!!

A must see. One of the top 3 mosques in the world with breathtaking opulence and a blend of various architectural styles, worth spending an hour or two to visit.

Even when staying in the Middle East I had not visited a Mosque; and this is truely fantastic. I was not there in time to take a guided tour, but just walking around was fantastic. Staff on hand to point you in the right direction, and assist those who have not done their research and dressed appropriately.

Well worth a trip.

This mosque is spectacular inside and out, definitely worth a visit. Amazingly it is completely free to visit.
