If you want to take away magical memories of Damascus, this is the place to stay. The courtyard is so peaceful and as darkness falls and the lanterns come on, it just feels amazing. It's the only hotel in the old city to have a pool, too, and a beautiful one at that. The room was just drop dead gorgeous with amazing high ceilings, chandliers, and antique furniture. I will always dream of returning here.

Talisman hotel is is not easy to find, follow the hotel's advice and give them a call from one of the major streets and they will come and pick you up in a golf car. The place is simply amazing, right in the heart of Old Damascus in a secluded Old Palace converted in a boutique hotel. The hotel is very stylish with a lovely swimming pool and two courtyards. At night the place has a magical feel. The rooms are big and nicely decorated with a stunning bathroom. Take the Oriental breakfast beside the swimming pool, it is a great way to start up your day in Damascus.

We arrived late at night, tired. We entered and saw a courtyard you could only dream about: Arabian nights has nothing on this: every attention to detail. Another couple was in the courtyard, entranced. We all agreed that we had never seen anything so perfect. The room was spacious with a wonderful bathroom.
The breakfast was the best we ever had in Syria-everything you could possibly want.
We would love to return.

My partner and I just returned from a three night stay at this beautiful hotel. I cannot say enough about the hotel. The pool was beautiful and a welcome respite in the afternoon after touring Damascus and surrounding area. We reserved a suite and were accommodated in room #3 for our stay. We were quite pleased with the clean, large split level suite (living room & large bathroom downstairs and large bedroom upstairs). The hotel staff was warm and accommodating with great restaurant recommendations. As others have commented, from the outside you would never know this "Gem" of a hotel even existed. We had considered the Four Seasons Damascus for our stay, but the hotel was recommended by a friend of a friend and we took a chance and are so glad we did. Such a different experience than a Four Seasons, which are always beautiful, but somewhat "generic." The Talisman Al Ameen provided the true Damascus experience.

While in Damascus we visited Talisman 2 property, which appeared to be tranquil and nice as well, but nothing compared to Talisman Al Ameen. Would highly recommend the restaurant Naranj, located a 5 minute walk from Talisman Al Ameen.

If you are looking for a touch of luxury during your stay in Damascus, this is the place to go. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with rooms nestled around either the main courtyard with the swimming pool, or a smaller, more private courtyard. Moreover, the staff are genuinely helpful and courteous. The night before we were due to check out and travel to Aleppo, I became extremely ill with food poisoning from a neighbouring restaurant (Al Khawali, not recommended) and was in no state to travel. We were able to stay another night and were even upgraded to an even bigger and more luxurious room (ask for no. 10, it's fantastic) at no extra charge. Even the breakfast waiters asked after me the morning I gingerly emerged from our room to nibble on some dry toast.

Nestled as it is in the labyrinthine back streets of the old town, it's difficult to get there by taxi. I recommend getting your taxi to drop you off at the corner of Bab Touma and Straight St, and either walking the short distance to the hotel or calling them and asking them to come pick you up in one of their golf-buggy type vehicles which they use to negotiate the narrow streets.

I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is nestled between two non-desrcript doors in a small alley in old Damascus. Stepping through the doors you feel as though you have stepped through a time machine into the Arabian Nights. The rooms are clean and elaborately furnished. The service is great, the bell boys are willing to bring you strong arabic coffee or tea at all hours of the night.
Not only is this hotel comfortable as well as beautiful but they also have free wireless.
This place is a haven of peace and beauty that I hope will continue to thrive in the years to come
