We stayed in the Rotana for 6 nights and found it to be excellent. It's a little expensive, but the rooms are huge - both of our rooms had separate living rooms and bedrooms. The standard of the rooms was very high too, with a very good finish.

We found the staff to be excellent - extremely helpful and prompt - room service was quick, which is really unusual anywhere these days........
We had one problem when the toilet got blocked, but they changed us to another room without any fuss.

The one disadvantage of the hotel is its location - it's outside the centre of town and you need to take a taxi in and out to the centre of the city. However taxis are cheap - we would highly recommend Star Taxis (who can be called by just dialling 9207) whom we found to be very reliable. They're a private company and have higher standard vehicles than normal taxis. The drivers speak English and always turn the meter on - unlike the guys in the yellow cabs - you take your chances with them............

One good tip - get the hotel to write the directions to the hotel in Arabic for you to give to taxi drivers if you don't use Star Taxis - the yellow cab guys often have no idea where it is.

Great hotel with a great location.
Spacious room with a proper kitchen, living room, desk and flat screen. A separated bedroom with big bed and nice size bathroom with bathtub.
I was on the 10th and last floor and had an amazing view on the city of Damascus.
Service is excellent at the reception, room-service really good (i had a continental breakfast and one night rack of lamb for dinner... so good!).
It worth a 4 stars.
Also, try the view from the 10th floor inside the hotel... quite impressive!
I recommend it, and it will be my hotel for this destination!
P.S.: there is a mini-mall on the 3 firsts floors of the hotel and you can book a taxi to the airport charged on your room.

At first, I was not too sure what to expect. Based on past experiences, hotels in Syria are generally less than impressive (with the exception of a handful). Upon arrival, the staff were courteous and willing to answer any questions. They also upgraded my room at no extra charge. The reception was nothing special, so I was not expecting the room to be anything great. This all changed the minute I opened the door. WOW. Impressive!!

The room was spacious, clean, had all the ammenities one could require, as well as an extensive soap collection in the bathroom (vegetable soap x4, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, loofah etc).

Room service was quick & the food was very good. Only small annoyance I has was the missed wake up call. No big deal, as I had my backup alarm - but none-the-less it was a bit annoying.

5 stars from me!

It is a wonderful hotel near the city center, it combines between luxury & dynamic

It is the best hotel for businessmen as it is equipped with all their needs from Desktable to internet.

I advice businessmen visiting syria to spent their stay at Rotana Suites Damascus Hotel

best regards

I am a regular visitor to Damascus and have stayed at quite a few of the hotels in the city and this one always comes up tops for me. Very pleasant staff, decent enough restaurant in the bottom floor of the hotel for breakfast, and most importantly for me, extremely clean. The rooms all have a small kitchen so if you want to make some food in your room everything is there. A few months ago they opened a restaurant on the 2nd floor which is pretty good. Its not state of the art dining but the food they do serve is excellent as is the service. This hotel does not serve alcohol.
Since the beginning of 2009 they have started charging for internet services so that is a bit of a pain, but you can buy an hour and the advantage is that you can use it for 20 minutes, log off and then use it again until the hour is up.
There is a Sixt office downstairs so car hire and upmarket taxi available, or stand outside the hotel and there are loads of taxi's around.
A bit out of town but the traffic in Damascus isn't too bad so only a 15 - 20 minute drive to the old town.
