I recently stayed in the La Cigale hotel. I regularly visit Doha and the is place is a very good one but not the best in town.

The hotel has all the amenities you expect from a five star hotel although I found the rooms a bit dark although spacious. The main restaurant is very huge and you can get lost. Service didn't have is best day while we had breakfast. The lunch buffet and the service was excellent and much better than breakfast. The rooftop bar is one of the top spots in town.

The cigar store is very good and has a sound selection of cigars.

The location of the hotel is odd. I would never find the hotel if I where walking. I prefer hotel at the corniche or within the embassy quarter.

This is a relatively new hotel with all the trappings of a luxury middle east hotel-gold leaf in the elevator-massive venetian chandeliers etc.My wife was not sure the eclectic mix worked but in general terms I enjoyed the decor. Most impressive are the room facilities there is nothing they have not thought of-the beds are especially comfortable. However like other reviewers we were disturbed by the late night revelling in the nightclub.
The quality of food is good but not spectacular-local laws however make choices difficult as alcohol can only be served under certain conditions-this is confusing.
The check in/out process is slow and laborious and not fitting with such a property this needs work.
The mostly philipino/a and Indian staff whilst very willing and eager are clearly inexperienced and seem to be overly concerned with process-to the detriment of the guest. One wonders how much pleasing the boss rather than the client is the driving factor?
Would I stay there again?probably not but then again I have not stayed elsewhere in Doha and other than a visit to the Four Seasons (hated it)for lunch have no other gauge.
La Cigale has lots of work to do.

Just returned from La Cigale Hotel. The hotel was over the top in luxury.
Positivies: Gorgeous rooms featuring Aqua di Parma amenities, beautiful public spaces, a rooftop bar to die for, an amazingly comfortable bed. The hotel showed its sense of humor with umbrellas it provided in every room closet.

Based on appearances, it was difficult to remember I was in Doha, and not South Beach.

The restaurant on the ground floor is a must visit: the buffet was spectacular with every imaginable food including Middle Eastern specialties, sushi, Beef Wellington, on and on and on and on.
Negative: reception desk had a bit of an attitude. Don't know if that is because they are used to dealing with Sheiks, and I am only a commoner from New Jersey. At any given time there were 6 people behind the front desk, so that wasn't the issue. The issue is the "tude" they gave off and the slowness in their responses.

Localtion a bit scruffy, bits of the hotel seem very modern, bits very plain - better 4 / 5 stars hotels to stay in Doha. One major annoyance was that the 3 of us staying here (in different rooms but all on the same floor, the 8th) were woken up from 2am by regular noise that sounded like it was coming from water pipes - one of us couldt get back to sleep because of this noise - complained but met with blank stares. Buffet very nice as is the open rtoof bar.
