I have to agree with the previous poster. The food is excellent but the service was a little indifferent.
If you have enjoyed wandering around the Souq Waqif for a while (it is fun and you can soak up the atmosphere of an authentic bazaar), you wil then like to relax in a convivial atmosphere for some good food.
Damasca One offers you just that.
My colleague and I (he from Mauritius, I from Bermuda) are familliar with heat but the lure of the AC inside was too tempting. We were taken upstairs to a very spacious room and sat at a comfortable table. Our waiters were perfunctory, but not exactly friendly, More mater of fact: "What you want eat?" "This good, this good too."...etc.
We were directed toward the Syrian specia;ties of lemon lamb and varous combinations of bulgar with meat and vegetables.
Insted we ordered some very good mezze (moutabel and hummous) served with vety nice flatbread. We followed this with some delightful lamb Shawarama, This was tremendous. Proper grilled lamb slices cooked on a rottisserie grill to give authentic taste (far superior to the shoddy doner kebabs that most now settle for). This was served with flatbread sand a delightful youghurt souvlaki style sauce.
No room for dessert. In and out in an hour.
