I say only during the winter, but it's just too hot during the Summer.
Downtown lights at night, reflect off the water...
Good little romantic scenery for 2.

Yes, this is a very nice beach promenade. However, getting there, if you need to cross the road can be tricky. It is nice for a long walk but with the current construction work (end of 2013) it has definitely lost a lot of flair.

I took a walk along the entire length of the corniche on a Friday evening.

The weather was perfect as it was cool and there were several families perched in foldable chairs enjoying the breeze and having picnics on the grass while the large foreign community posed for photos along the concrete parapet in all manner of poses with the scenic West Bay skyline as their backdrop.

I started off at the southern end of the corniche after visiting Souk Waqif and there are several photo opportunities here with the Museum of Islamic Art, the huge pearl statue and the Dhow Harbour.

There are a couple of touts along the corniche offering boat rides and they can be rather pushy, especially if you're holding a camera!

Somewhere along the middle there is a posh restaurant. This is the only place where you can get a drink or a bottle of water but prices are steep. While there are two vending machines in the area offering bottled water, they seem to be perpetually sold out. There is also a giant statue of the country's Oryx mascot (used during the 2006 Asian games) here and a replica of a Qatari hamlet but the latter was fenced up when I visited. Due to the upcoming National Day, there were several installation works going on in the area.

There is only one public toilet near the Sheraton end of the corniche so do be prepared to hold it in if you're still some distance away. The kids' playgrounds are also located at the Sheraton end so parents travelling with young children may want to head straight to this area first.

There should be more stalls or kiosks along the corniche offering water and bottled drinks to thirsty visitors and it wouldn't hurt to have a couple more toilets along the 7km stretch.

After finishing the extensive building works that the Corniche had, I have found it to be a very pleasant place to go for a long stroll both during the day or on the night. There always seems to be a nice vibe and sometimes plenty of things to do or see. The recent Dhow International festival as a typical example.

only in cool night breeze when you go for a walk on the cornice as the weather is so hot during the summer times, their is also a nice play grounds spots free to use for the children if you have any , the kids would definitely enjoy them , but be aware of the heat
