This is not the first time we have dined at this restaurant because we love the food served here. They also have a nice selection of sushi and sashimi. The drinks are also bottomless and it's great that you can order coffee first and later you can order juice if you like
We just love how a restaurant can combine exercise and dining in one hahahaha. Well, what i meant was that the foods are spread out into four sections/ four corners so one would have to walk quite a distance to get to one section, but don't worry because it's really not that far.
This restaurant opens its doors as early as 6 or 6:30 pm. This is also another reason why we just love this restaurant so much. (by the way to be able to fully appreciate the extensive selections of this restaurant, i suggest that you go here on a thursday night or a friday brunch )

Being " brunch dwellers" for many years in Doha, we decided to check out the brunch at the Square. From the moment we entered the restaurant till the time we left we only experienced positive experiences.
The setting: The square is litterally a square restaurant, occupying one full floor wrapped around the inner core of the building. The floor space is huge yet cosy, as it is one of the few restaurants that offers seating in compartiments. In every corner there is a different foodstation, with bars in between. From a sushi station with lobster, an arabic/Asian station, a western cuisine station, a salad and cheese bar all the way to the sweets...all were available with an abundance of choices offered. There is a large play area available for kids, with full time professional supervision.
The food: all food was fresh and prepared on the spot. Great tastes for an all day dining restaurant. Good choices all around.
The options: standard brunch/ brunch with wines and liquor/ brunch with beer. All for very reasonable prices, lower than the competion.
Staff: Very accomodating and friendly. With a special recommendation for the outlet manager Mr. Hossenbux, who did his utmost best to accomodate us.

We went for the wine inclusive option, which was perfect. Plates were always changed when needed, drinks were always refilled, staff was always available.

Overall one of the better, if not the best, brunch experience in Doha. Especially for families with Children as there is a huge supervised play area attached to the restaurant. The kids love it, the parents can dine in peace and it is staffed by professionals. We will be back for sure.

The Square is just new of the scene but I already think it’s one of the better ones in Doha, it's no W Hotel or Dubai buffet but it is another option and I'm all up for options! We had dinner there on a Thursday night. Greeting on arrival was really nice and welcoming. We were given a tour of the restaurant, it is very large and the buffet is setup in a big square around the lift well. It occupies the whole floor of the hotel so it is a bit of a trek to get around but a bit of exercise at a buffet is probably a good thing. Salad & Cheeses station, main meals, pasta station, south east Asian, sushi and dessert stations! Worth checking though because I think not all stations are open every night. We were then explained the 3 beverage packages – juices and soft drink package (210QAR I think), 260QAR for red/white wine (this may also include spirits but I didn’t quite understand) and then a premium package which I think was 320 that included everything plus beers. Might worth checking when you book though because I was a little confused with the explanation but in any case we went with the 2nd package and had a great SB and a French merlot. The quality of the food was great, we had REAL cooked prawns, not those frozen acid-peeled pink jelly things at many of the other buffets around town. A real taste of home for us Australians. My husband loved the sashimi and sushi quality, especially seeing unagi sushi at a buffet that was a real treat. We had some lovely chicken and prawns sate sticks from the south east Asian, then some lovely curry and roti. The roast lamb was just so tender (c’mon chef, brining? Slow and low? How do you get it so soft and moist?) outstanding. After that we were pretty full so ended on some cheese and good fresh baked crackers. There was plenty of good looking mains we just didn’t get to! The service was nice and friendly, they took our plates when needed and topped up the glasses regularly. The restaurant was already quite busy for being so new, some group parties too - the layout is good for that, you can have a group and it doesn’t disturb the whole restaurant. The layout doesn’t suit entertainment as such but you can always create your own! It was a mixed environment, so we got a few unnerving stares as we sipped our wine :-S We went there on a 2 for 1 buffet voucher we had from the Privilege Club and that’s when the night went a bit pear shaped. Actually it has every time I’ve tried to use the card at Intercon City, Hive and Strata both refused it previously too, even when I received an email invite?? But I double checked when I rang that yes the 2 for 1 buffet voucher was valid. However when the bill came, they had decided that the voucher only covered the food component which they estimated to be 140QAR. Now, nowhere on the voucher did it say “only food to the value of 140QAR”. When we arrived we were explained 3 buffet options and so we expected 2 for 1 on the option we chose. I explained this to the server who then correctly referred it to the floor manager and after explaining to him, he referred to the restaurant manager. This I thought was really good, so many restaurants here, the staff shrug their shoulders and don’t want to let their manager know of a problem in case they get in trouble. Hats off to the Intercon with their staff training. There was a bit of a heated discussion with raised voices but to the credit of Mr. Ibne Ally he honoured the voucher as we understood it to be. I’m always reluctant to get in argument but on this occasion I felt the hotel had really missed the point. The whole point of the voucher is to get already loyal customers to the brand in to try the new restaurant during opening period (it was only valid to May 31). It is widely accepted around the Gulf that 2 for 1 buffet, means 2 for 1 buffet and creating an undisclosed low food price I thought was pretty lame and penny pinching. Thankfully it was resolved in a customer centric way, thank you Hossenbux, pity we had to argue it though. If you are Priveledge Card member double check first at these venues or you might get a surprise. The process is not quite as smooth as the Old Intercon and rather than a brand loyal customer you might get the impression they think you a giant pain in the butt :-D Would I be back? Yes, as an Intercon Ambassador member I’ve eaten at my fair share of Intercons and I think the Square has good standard buffet food, is a welcome addition to West Bay area, the Intercon group and I live 5mins from the hotel ;-)

That is how we felt after our buffet dinner at the Square. After reading advertisements of multiple interactive kitchens specialising in six influential cuisines and after learning that we were now eligible for a 20% discount with a discount card that we held, we thought we would try out the restaurant for dinner.

Although many Doha restaurants are busy on Saturday night, we were surprised that the Square was very quiet with only 4 tables occupied. The second surprise was how little food was actually on offer. The salad/cold bar was decent enough with a nice selection of fresh and different options. The sushi and sashimi had sat out a little too long, but most everything else was fresh and tasty.

The hot food area was surprisingly small with only 7 warmers and just one live (barely) Italian cooking station. The "interactive kitchens" must have had the night off. The dessert bar was equally paltry. On top of this, the food was very hit and miss, some items being very tasty while others fell far short of expectation.

We were never offered adult beverages but we did see some behind a counter. We ordered coffee which arrived in a cup that could easily be mistakenly used for tasting rather than drinking. Drinks are not included in the buffet, so our bottle of flat water (QR30) and our coffees (QR30 each) brought our bill to QR450 for 2 people sans adult beverages. To make matters worse, the restaurant management was not aware of the discount that is being advertised, so they refused to extend that courtesy to us.

All in all, a disappointing and overpriced experience given the competition in this segment of the Doha dining market. The selection is far too limited, the food quality/taste left much to be desired, and fell short in the "value for money" department. We will not be returning here given the many, far-more enticing options that are available in Doha.
