Description: Casual dining in generous surroundings is brightened with natural sunshine and views of the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf. Even more opulent, the extravagant buffet in Doha offers a blend of Continental, Arabic and Far Eastern cuisines while the a la carte menu provides limitless choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A special children's menu is also available. 40-foot windows offer views of the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf while dining in elegant, well-appointed surroundings Specialties include lavish buffets, Friday brunch, freshly-made breads and an exquisite dessert buffet. Our new Brunch concept, Picnic Fridays, breaks convention of the typical hotel weekend buffet brunch with its unique set up of family-style food to share brought to the table, whereby guests are welcomed with a selection of savory appetizers to start, and main courses of grilled meat, seafood, pasta and others are served to the table alongside pitchers of drinks. Outside on the garden verandah, a barbeque station, popcorn machine and other stations allow guests to add on to their meal. Children can enjoy fun activities close to their parents including the Bouncy Castle, while adults are entertained with upbeat retro music. Apart from indoor seats, groups who enjoy basking in the sun can opt for garden table seats or the picnic mat fitting to its concept.

You have to head to The Lagoon with your mindset out of Doha prices and back into your home country prices if a westerner, this ensures that you realise what great value for money it is. We went on a Saturday and sat outside on the terrace overlooking the garden and lagoon. The service was fantastic. The open space great for our four year old to run around without disturbing others. The buffet was top class, with three chefs on hand to also cook up just about anything you desire. The range was magnificent. We really enjoyed the day out, the service and food. The only downside if any is why oh why do we have to pay so much for a cheap and nasty glass of chianti in Qatar? Otherwise superb.

We came for the Friday brunch (315Qar bubbly only, 395Qar full beverages) with a large group of 25 and thankfully with winter here able to eat outside. This was our first visit and I kinda wish we sat inside as the dining room is so lovely and you can get forgotten outside service wise. Good venue for families I imagine, the kids can run around outside. Highlights included probably the biggest and best oysters in the Doha brunch scene and a really good cavery with good quality beef. Low lights included jelly textured frozen prawns and the glass thimbles of salad, yes I know it's very popular at the moment in buffets to avoid food wastage, but in practical terms for customers it's very difficult. Unless you up-end it on the your plate you can only fit 2 maybe 3 fancy glasses on a dinner plate, then walk very gently so the glasses don't skate off your plate, drop the mouthfull sized servings back at the table and go get another 2. It's frustrating to eat and must be a real headache back of house with all that washing up :-) At the end of the brunch you usually go searching for a little stodge to sober things up, Curry at Spice Market, Chili Con at Marriot but I couldn't find anything meaty similar, opted for the pasta bar which was cooked to order and tasted really nice. Look it's up there in price for a Doha brunch and it's in the Ritz so I expected a real wow moment, but it never came. You know Spice has amazing sushi and fun band, 4 Seasons has foie gras station, Hyatt has duck (and duck fat potatoes!), Market has good cocktails included, Marriot has an avenue of choice, I'm just left wondering what was memorable about the Ritz that sets it apart from the rest?

Book in advance, especially now (June - September 2012).
There's a huge variety of food in the buffet - come hungry! And the price (all things considered - remember, this is the opulence of the Ritz) is actually reasonable.
When we went for lunch they had a section for the kids - buffet lowered for their height, shaped balloons and face-painting. After lunch it's worth walking past the pool area and gym (to work off those calories) and then through the Spa to consider making another visit.
My wife one a voucher for this excursion - the voucher was a simple printout that could've looked a lot neater.
The restaurant website's description is quite apt and sufficient: "Casual dining in generous surroundings is brightened with natural sunshine and views of the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf. Even more opulent, the extravagant buffets offer a blend of Continental, Arabic and Far Eastern cuisines whilst the a la carte menu provides limitless choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A special children’s menu is also available."

One of the best places to dine. Very good variety of food starting from salads to main courses to dessert to cheese! The service is good too.
Highly recommended.
