“Service Varies with Occupancy”

I have been staying at the Sheraton weekly for the past six months. While the staff has been friendly and attentive, most recently, ( last week and a few weeks back) there were large groups in the hotel and service was not what it had been. This hotel seems to be the one of choice for government functions and meetings. Those meetings affect the staff's ability to provide good service. While previously I had felt like a valued customer, last week I felt very much "in the way". ( as I did on a previous similar occasion.) The front desk was always crowded and poorly run. The parking was a mess, with my driver being sent off to park a distance from the hotel and I was required to walk to my car carrying my luggage on a couple of occasions. The usual buffet breakfast that was part of the club room rate and been down graded to one-forth its size and served in the club lounge. It seems the hotel is a fine place to stay as long as the number of guests is low. These two experiences over the past month have convinced me to change my hotel on my weekly trip to Doha.

Much better properties available for same or less money than the Sheraton Doha. This is a aging property with archaic policies and simply mean staff. Rooms are dated and worn. Many other newer properties in Doha such as Hyatt, Ramada and Ritz.

1) Check-in staff became angry and discortious when I inquired about downgrading from Club floor.
2) Turned away by night Club and Pub staff because I was wearing sandals
3) Extremely limited Club floor offerings - happy hour only from 6 - 8pm.
4) Took over an hour and 3 phone calls to get baggage delivered to room.
5) Sports facilities and pool circa 1970's.

The hotel is showing its age a little. Reasonable friendly staff, average food. Decent pool and grounds. Staff are friendly.

Good for both business and a holiday.

Stayed previously and like the location due to right side of town for business and next to corniche for walking.
Rooms clean and spacious with separate seating area as booked executive club also.
Executive lounge snacks/drinks free from 6 to 8pm and good place to sit if you don't want to be a saddo on your own in the restaurant.
Easy check in and out and plenty of Limo's (expensive) but few taxis (cheap if you can get one).
Good beach/club/pool/gym/restaurants.
No Smoking ban does not appear to be enforced in the bars so back to stinking clothes is only complaint. Luckily was cool enough to sit at outside bar.
Overall, nice stay.

Dear oh dear what can i say. A very old hotel that has recently undergone a refurbishment in the rooms. They are OK, if u can excuse some of the doors that are bit loose on the cupboards. Guess the biggest irritation was the availability of a bar fridge but nothing inside it - you have to order room service! Absolute waste of time having to order 2 beers a time. Apparantly they has complaints from guests in having alcohol in the rooms. OK so leave it empty but you know what-stock it if a guesr requires it. Room service bit of a nightmare and had to get hold of the Duty Manager as there is a language issue and comprehension and couldnt get order taken. Hotel large lots of restuarants and pool which is good. The gym is very well equiped but sadly extremely dated..bit like training in a school gym, Would I stay here again? Probably not...there is too much competition in Doha at the same price offering much more.

Having booked a stay at the Doha Sheraton, we were quite concerned to read two negative reports about the hotel on Tripadviser and considered changing our plans. Fortunately, just before doing that, a positive report was published and we left things as they were.....and we're so glad that we did.
Although the hotel is one of the older ones in the area, it had a wealth of good things going for it. The design and structure were interesting, very colourful, with plenty of lifts/elevators providing instant scenes through the glass whenever we used them. Although there were many guests, the hotel was quiet, with little disturbance or noise.
Despite arriving at 2.00am after a delayed flight, the staff were welcoming and so ready to make us comfortable as quickly as possible. Throughout our stay, we found this attitude prevailed. All our questions or requests were answered in full, staff in all areas, at all times, endeavouring to be as helpful as possible, always with ready smiles.
The no-smoking room we'd requested was waiting for us, clean, comfortable, spacious and with a splendid view across the Corniche. Our stay was enhanced by watching the comings and goings from our window, especially at night, when the lights around the Corniche made it seem like a fairyland! All facilities in the room, toiletries etc were first class.
The food was very good, the breakfast buffet always had an excellent selection available and the Friday Brunch was superb.
We enjoyed walking around the gardens and on the beach, with lots to see, including a small, well-kept aviary.
If I had one criticism, it would be that the pool was rather 'tired' and ready for a refurbishment. Tiles had fallen off in places and there were some cracks around the sides. Unfortunately, as the jelly-fish had arrived earlier than usual and the nets had not been put in place, this restricted the opportunity to swim in the sea, which was disappointing, however there were always plenty of sun loungers available to use in sun or shade.
We're so pleased we used the Sheraton for our visit to Doha.
