We had stayed there earlier too.
The old sofitel hotel as it is known in Doha.
It is near the huge demolition & construction site going on.
Directly on the road.
Very much near to sukh waikif.
The breakfast is too continental style.
Rooms are small, but have a large balcony always dusty because of the near by demolition.
For drinks the fridge is locked for which key has to be arranged from the reception.

Stayed: May 2012, traveled on business

We went for a meal at the Villa but it was empty so we decided to go next door to the pub "The Manor". It was a friday night. The majority of the clients were of arab descent in national dress. Some were really inebriated and very vocal. The food was soooooooo bad ..........say no more !!!! The service was non existent as the staff were more interested in watching the football on TV. At the end of the evening we were gratified by a fight that ensued between the national dressed individuals and the security staff who had no control or authority. We left when bottle started to be broken. So if you want to spend a quite evening, enjoying a peaceful drink and stay safe definitely avoid this venue.

Dear Customer,

I have notice, your complain, concerning the food of our "Old Manor" outlet.
I will check what exactly happen that evening as until now we didn’t add any complaint on that issue.
Receive my apology and don’t hesitate to contact me on your next trip to Doha.
Cordially.

As a recent visitor to the hotel for dinner I have to say thank you to Janette, one of your waitresses. She really went above and beyond in ensuring that our every need was met and catered for. With an infectious smile and warm greeting we will definately be coming back for another Iftar during Ramadan. The food was excellent, freshly cooked and invitingly presented - and I will spread the word to my friends that for an affordable, enjoyable meal Janette and the Mercure is the place to be.

I stayed in this Hotel last year just for one night. Its quite difficult to find and a strange sort of layout. The reception on the 1st floor via a lift from the outside road.

Clean pleasent reception with nice staff. Nice bar upstairs with views over Doha city buildings not sea view.

Cheap hotel but I would stay again although the rumor is its being demolished soon to make way for further new developments.
