I recently spent 6 days at the Kingsgate hotel, and was very happy with the service, breakfast, and views (from the 9th floor).

This is not a luxury hotel, but it suited me perfectly - small, friendly, clean, relatively spacious, great city views (dusty windows are a given here), and excellent wifi. Breakfast was worth paying for. I didn't have lunch or dinner here, as I could get excellent meals in the Souq Waqif for slightly cheaper, and a more authentic dining experience.

Greatly appreciated the warm welcome and early check in, at no extra charge. Arriving at 6AM in the Doha summer is an interesting experience!

Local traffic around the hotel is, er, dangerous - once you get past the front entrance!

I was lucky enough to find a local (safe) driver who took me around. it is about 10-15 mins walk from Souq Waqif (beware heat and traffic), and 25-30 mins from the Corniche and Museum of Islamic Art (tip follow traffic / police signals / cross during traffic jams).

On the 9th floor, traffic noise was not much of a problem. Air conditioning can be a little noisy, but you get used to it - particularly in the summer! Agree with lack of powerpoints to charge devices - but I coped. Note - Light / fan switch for bathroom are located above sink in kitchenette, took a little while to find!

Will happily stay at this hotel again, as felt more comfortable and welcome here than at my conference hotel in outer Doha. At the price, was a fantastic base for a first time budget traveller.

Room Tip: Room 906 was great :) Lovely view of city by night.

The most advantage is the hotel location, very close to souq waqif and about 10 min from the airport. The rooms is good, clean and big. The two main disadvantages were. only two electricity output. In the room , which you. Make difficult to charge all you devices in one time, the other is the poor. And similar of the breakfast everyday. Also the service in the restaurant is so poor.

Booked the hotel with the help of the reviews on Tripadvisor ,as our flight the next day required a late check out , asked if this a possibility, not a problem and no extra charge, I was very impressed to say the least, the desk staff very helpful to accommodate us in all aspects.

The room we had , well appointed with a kitchen sort of thing thrown in, and everything else you expect in a hotel of this standard, great and comfortable beds, that is a must!
WiFi connection standard, what else, just a great hotel, we have travelled a lot over time and know what a decent hotel should be.

What more it is just 10 minutes walk from the main Souq Waqif ,a must if you have the time to explore this fascinating place.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 8th floor with harbour views, no noise.

The Kingsgate is ideal if you need to be fairly close to the docks or the airport. The West Bay area is a 15 minute taxi ride away. There are a few museums within walking distance.

The hotel's own restaurant is very good for food and the service there, is excellent. Reception staff are helpful and pleasant. The rooms are big and well equipped. I've had two long stays there have been happy both times.

English version below

English version

GOOD THINGS
1) They can issue Visas at reasonable price for those who can not get it straight in the airport (like Argentinian people)
2) Situatet at 5 min (by car) from the airport, 7 min. (walking) from Souq El Waqif and 10 min (walking) to Islamic Museum and Corniche
3) Modern, well furnished and gave us a free upgrade to room with amazing views of the skyline at the other side of the Corniche.

BAD THINGS
1) Breakfast too expensive. Price of double room a bit expensive.
2) They offer us a taxi-private car very expensive to go to the City Center. It is much more cheap to get a regular taxi (light blue).

Room Tip: Si quieres ver el famoso skyline de Doha, elige habitación con vistas, o solicita la mejor al llegar. If you want to see the famous skyline, choose superior room or ask for upgrade on arrival.
