“World class art collection”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

This is probably the main tourist site in Qatar... well worth the visit! There are four floors taking the visitor through the history of Islamic art and presenting a wide variety of styles and geographic locations. It's worth bringing along some photographic ID to get an audio guide (free of charge). The cafe in the foyer is quite pricey, so we didn't eat there. The architecture of the building is also fantastic with a great view of West Bay.

“A world class museum in every sense of the word”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Imagine a museum collection amassed with no financial constraints, designed by an iconic architect (I.M. Pei who announced this was his last project before retiring), a building that sits on its own island surrounded by an increasingly modern city, and that is the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. I had transit of 6 hours which was an opportunity to experience the museum. It is only a short drive by taxi from the airport. Once inside the museum I did not want to leave. The architecture and indoor spaces are amazing, the view of the water is lovely, and the artwork was spellbinding. The audio tour was extremely well crafted as well.

“Museum of Islamic Art is a must!”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

If you are in Doha I would claim that the Museum of Islamic Art is a must! The building itself is beautiful and beautifully located by the water. The exhibition is interesting and very educational (history wise). At the time we were there they also had a classical concert in the main hall and they have a nice gift shop as well as a café. Remember to bring a sweater! It's "cold" in there - well, at least compared to outside.
