This trip was my first time to the Middle East and having a great hotel to come to each night made it very comfortable. The staff is extremely accommodating, bending over backwards to address questions and requests. The hotel's proximity to great restaurants and shopping was very convenient. It was a quick walk to the Corniche and central enough to quickly get to other attractions by cab. Honestly, I love local cuisine so one of my favorite things about the hotel was the breakfast buffet. There were so many different foods both familiar and not-so-much! I loved trying all the different fruits, nuts, and pork alternatives! I needed another few days just to get to the stuff that was there! Delicious!

We stayed at this hotel for one night and had a great stay and a very comfortable night sleep. As a Marriott reward member, we were offered a superior room, spa discount, breakfast for 850 QAR. We liked the breakfast buffet a lot as it offers a delicious variety of dishes. The hotel is also connected to City Center shopping center which was nice. Courtyard by Marriott hotel was adjecent to our hotel.

Rates are reasonable 650 Riyals per night, (£100 approx). If you stay there are cheaper options. It's always advisable to get the internet package as part of the deal otherwise it could work out more expensive. Internet you select the package you want, don't worry about the price, they deduct it at the end if it's in the package. (3 devices allowable) Rooms are a nice size, unfortunately the first time I stayed I had a smoking room, Although they do try to accomadate, if you are in this predicament, they usually sort it out in a few days if you let them know. Breakfast in the deal, plenty to chose from. Beds are extremely comfortable, always had a good nights sleep. One criticism is that late in the evening you can hear the locals on their bikes and in their cars screetching along trying to impress/annoy others evidence is on the roads where there are signs that they have been doing "dohnuts" this can be heard all the way to the top of the hotel, Sound travels well if you are at the front, It may be advisable to ask for a room at the back, It may be more quiet.

Service is excellent, everyone is so cheerful, always there to help especially at the check in and check out times.

If you like swimming in hot water, then the pool which is shared with the courtyard hotel on the 7th floor is ideal. I prefer cold water to refresh, in my opinion it was far too hot.

There is a shopping mall attached to the hotel, very spacious, most shops however open late at night after 9pm usually. Prices are slightly more expensive that UK, by about 10-15%. Jewellery is reasonable. Beer is extortionate £6-7 per bottle.

Restauraunts in the hotel

Champions - a sports bar with TV's everywhere, if theres a sport you like, it's probably on here. a good menu and draught beer available (Stella, Carlsberg, Kilkenny etc) The menu is adequate but the portion sizes huge. better value here than room service. There are the occasional lady of the night that frequent here, but these are easy to spot (Chineese usually)

Brazilian - A carvery eat as much as you want using a red/green mat to indicate. 15 cuts of meat, a night in here could see you suffer the next day

Italian - reasonable

Steak bar - Never made this, prices look expensive

You must note that this is a smoking hotel, they allow smoking everywhere even at the tables, which can be off putting.

Overall an enjoyable experience, will be going back and a good base to work from

Room tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, it may be quieter than the front & better value food in Champions rather than room service. July expect temperatures to reach into the 50's but cooling towards the end of August

My company recommended this hotel because it has a good proximity to our office. Ok to tell the truth I was already expecting an average service since some of my friends who recently stayed shared their experiences with this hotel.

I have stayed for one night but it was terribly worse than expected. Concierge took more than an hour to deliver my luggage to my room, rooms are horribly designed, electrical wirings everywhere, look at your room window and you will see no scenery, went to this steakhouse paid a lot of bucks for an average quality. It is not a 5 star hotel!

I gave it a try but will never go back.

Right into summer, you will appreciate how much it means to stay away from the heat outdoors.

With Renaissance linked into City centre, there is no need for you to go outside.

Check in service is excellent and even when checking in at 2am, there is more than 1 service staff at the counter.

Room is spacious and clean, stable internet connection and water. however, the fruits provided is not fresh. excellent amenities available all in the room. ironing board, sufficient hangers, big table, stationaries, clock, toiletries, everything is in place.

Business lounge is in tip top condition, and meeting rooms are bright and comfortable.

Gym is 24/7, while swimming pools runs from 7am to late, not much crowd in summer i guess.

Check out is hassle free.
