I have reviewed this separately from the Arabian Adventures tour we did to get here, because I am reviewing the Inland sea, not the dune bashing / camel rides etc we did as part of the tour. The sea itself is, well, a sea, with sand. Its OK, but looks much like most other seas. It is calm so from that point of view safe to swim.

But what really annoyed me are the tyre tracks everywhere, and I mean everywhere, from undisciplined offroad driving, and the rubbish!!!!

Why is it so difficult for people to take their drinks bottles home with them, and why oh why do smokers think it is OK to leave their stubs everywhere? Come on, people! All of this crap washes out to sea and ends up killing turtles and other sea life, just because we cannot be bothered to clean up after ourselves.

Also called inland sea. Great place for driving your 4WD on the sand dunes. Very peaceful quiet place. Also can spend a night and enjoy the night in the desert and see how the stars look so bright at night.

Very nice break away from Doha city. Sand duning is good fun and nice to bbq next to the sea. The water is very calm. If camping overnight make sure you park your cars to protect the tents, otherwise you my find your campsite over-run by the guys who do their sand duning at night.

You definitely need to organize a trip with a tour company and I recommend Arabian Adventures! We had such a great time and our driver was fantastic!

We think he got a thrill from listening to us laugh, giggle and scream as we flew over sand dunes, up and over the edge of massive, steep dunes as well....if fact he was laughing at us!!! It was so much fun. As well our driver would stop anytime we would like to take photos.

Whether it's a day trip or an afternoon trip is is worth it.

Also, if you are only doing a half day trip take the afternoon trip then you get to see the spectacular sunset in the desert !! I Loved it !!!

Yes, we did this - they call it an 'inland desert safari'. We did it with Arabian adventures and it was great fun. They send out the driver to you, maybe with another couple in the back, and they drive you out to the desert. You can camel ride, sandboard, see the sunset, then go to the camp for a late swim and a BBQ and a shisha. All brilliant fun. We had Ibrahim as our driver so the dune-bashing was hilarious and exciting. Qatar is pretty boring and sometimes even a bit weird, but the desert safari, along with the Museum and the Souk Waqif at night, are highlights.
