“Place to spend your evenings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

It is one of the best attraction of Doha to understand the local culture. As informed to us, this present souq waqif has been redeveloped keeping the old style intact. It is a wonderful place to explore, shop, have dinner or simply idle time away in one of the many awesome cafes. Spices, perfumes, oud are the things to look out for. This is a place where you can find all, be antique shops, souvenir shops art galleries, bird market or cafes both traditional and contemporaries. This is my most favourite place in Doha. I like just idling with a sheesha in one of the many world class cafes.

Must must must visit.

“Revitalised souk - a stop for all travellers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

This souk is essentially a rebuild for tourists and locals alike. It is essentially one of the first places you visit in Doha, and holds excellent restaurants (The Royal Tandoor is particularly good and so is the famous Fish restaurant), cafes and shisha cafes. Moreover, it enables you to wander the small yet labyrinthine market souk which sells everything from scarves to coffee. Nearby you can access to the shops seeling diving gear, jewellery and also falcons. Theres always plenty of taxis so you can hop in a cab too and visit the Museum of Islamic Arts or high-tail it to one of the many malls or hotels that the city can offer, or simply walk 10 mins (not advisable in the middle of the day or at all in summer) to the Corniche and walk round the bay. A must for short term travellers. Probably a reliable bore for expats and long time travellers since its hardly changed much since the 5 years Ive been going there. Its dependable for relaxation, shopping and a meal.

Soug Waqif is a tourist attraction in Doha loacated at the very heart of Doha, you can enjoy strolling and sight seeing ancient traditon of Arab culture and buy souvenier at a very reasonable if not bargain prices. There are plenty of restaurant inside the souq you can choose which delicacy you prefer from eastern to western. It is very safe roam inside the souq.

“A must-see in Doha”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

I live in Doha and I love heading to the Souq for a bite to eat, to relax or to smoke the occasional bit of shisha.
Do - go on weeknights when it's less busy; people watch; check out Le Gourmet; see the singer outside a hotel in the very end - pretty sure he plays every night
Don't- wear inappropriate clothing! Please be respectful of local culture. Even though it's a million degrees, I hate seeing foreigner after foreigner walking by wearing next to nothing. Oh, and don't hold hands. It's a no-no, people

Souq Waqif is closest you will ever get to Qatar culture and must not be missed. Maze of shops, lively street with hookka and traditional food, souvenier shopping, antiques, bird souq, and a desert town feel.
