I've not been to a middle eastern country before so my experience in this souk was a bit more exciting than the others. I find this place traditional, colorful, wonderful. I chanced upon this place because i had a few hours to kill before my flight continues to europe. This souk is quite big. You can walk in alleys and browse trinkets. When tired, we stopped at a little cafe and tasted their drinks (which tasted a bit weird) and feasted our eyes with beautiful people walking around in long robes. i liked it!

The Souq has a wonderful selection of shops, coffee bars and restaurants and lots of places to sit and relax. I would recommend a walk around here for a few hours to soak up the historic atmosphere, wonderful smells of food and to buy a gift or 2. I ate in an Iraqi restaurant which had excellent meat and rice dishes and the best lemon drink I have ever tasted.

Souq Waqif is one of the better Middle Eastern souqs. It is centrally located, but make sure you go when it is open (4 pm onwards). A plethera of stalls and plenty of choice, whatever your fancy, whether it be tourist items, local produce or higher quality goods (blown glassware through to saddles). Make sure you go to the local craft area, which is fascinating. The restaurants at the edge of the souq are great for people watching, but also provide quality refreshments and food. Highly recommended.

It was a great surprise to find a place that will give You the feeling to go back into history. It's a place where You will find everything about traditional workmanship, marketplace, spices and last but not least an exelent variation about restaurants and hospatillity. Visit and enjoy.
