“Must see!”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Very nice. This Souq is much more authentic than souks in Dubai or Muscat. Our kids loved the part with the birds. Close to the Souq Waqif is the Falcon-Souq and close by the horse stables with the Arabian Horses.

“Great Early Evening tourist spot”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Plenty to see, buy, eat, and drink. Lots of haggling to be done and a complete maze of attractions to keep you interested.

If you wander and ask you will find the Hawk Souk hidden away, which was amazing.

“Arabesque atmosphere”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Tips
1. Better to make a reservation as it can be quite crowded on weekends.
2. Be conservatively dressed to respect the culture.
3. In summer it can be quite warm to sit outside - be prepared to sweat.
4. Before you sit down to eat take a tour of the entire place.
5. No harm in haggling when buying souvenirs.

“Do not miss this”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Lovely cafes, a network of shops and some very friendly people. Here you can buy pets, kitchen utensils, herbs and spices, toys, rice, jewellery, clothes and I must have missed something. It feels like stepping back in time.
