We had a lovely generous sized room with an outlook towards the Pearl, lots of water and sky views. The executive floor is worth the cost, the staff were professional and went out of their way to be helpful. A great Hotel for a break

Room Tip: Pay the money and stay on the Executive floor

Grand Hyatt has been my most preferred hotel for stay in Doha.
Right from the location to rooms to services and Restaurants.
It has to be by far the best 5 star luxury hotel in the country.
It sets itself high standards and sticks to it.
The staff are very friendly and always helpful.
Highly recommend- the Morning Buffet Breakfast and the Italian Rocca Restaurant - 2 of my personal favorite.

We spent 1 week (last day was august 21st 2011) in Doha and tried most of the resorts and hotels there. We went there for vacation with 2 kids (2 1/2 years old and 5 months with no nanny). Our best stay was at the Grand hyatt Doha. It has all what we were looking for : the best beach of doha (btw do not expect Maldives beaches :-) / arabic style / a real palace / the most beautiful garden-park to walk in with gorgeous pools (for kids and adults) / SPA and kids club. The view on the park/pool is the best when you pick up a room. The room size (standard) is same as other hotels but looks bigger when you are inside because of the light colors. Indoor pool and health club is very quiet and relaxing (sauna/hamam/inhaling room/rain showers/jacuzzi...)...Very large choice in the breakfast buffet with very good quality and creativity. I simply recommend this resort specially if you have kids and look for luxury/elegance and relaxation at the same time.
We tried others:
W doha : very impressive modern style. All restaurants/lounge/cafe are decorated with creativity but tower concept/high tech mainly for business stays. Too small! The outdoor pool is extremely small, rooms have horrible views even the suite (towers and a bit of sea :-) )/ Staff service competencies could be better...Recommend this place for a dinner/drink or pure business purposes.
Sheraton: very nice park less elegant than the hyatt but very nice for kids (playground-parrot coves), nice beach but very classic pool and style of the resort older....
Ritz carlton: very nice artificial outdoor pool (maybe the best) with waterfalls/rocks but not enough shadow for kids, very nice indoor pool with tennis courts etc... but no beach just the view on the marina and on the ocean (nice but not enough for us). The standard room looks old-fashion.
Shark village (ritz carlton cie) : beautiful arabic resort concept (cozy with beautiful patios) but the beach view is horrible too many constructions all around/airplanes noise is really a pain (request for a ground floor villa, even if it is not enough this is better than 1st floor)/The outdoor pool is nice but no shadow at all. The SPA is very nice and looks authentic.
Intercontinental: Very big and nice outdoor pool and beach that brings all Doha population who wants to access a beach :-) so nice but crowded and too popular. Hotel is old fashion and common.
Four Season : Architecture of the hotel is nice and impressive, cozy/nice outdoor pool but no beach, kids club too small with weak activities, no park, sea restaurant under renovation (can access but does not look nice). Much smaller than the Hyatt that was so impressive :-)

So pick up the one you prefer based on your style and needs and enjoy :-) Our suggestion for sure will be Grand Hyatt Doha (very quiet these days so if you need more people and activity just go out in the evening to visit doha and go back to your resort to relax and enjoy its luxury). Hope this will help you booking. M.

Room Tip: get price if you book 2 nights on site usually :-)

We went on saturday to the Health club as visitors, and it was not busy at all. Mostly locals. But I never expected such poor performance fron a five-star Grand Hyatt!!
Beach is far from the pool, about 200 meters, however all signages indicate it as 50 meters. Without bar. Swimming pool is is of same depth everywhere - 1,5m. Water in the pool is salty. Looks like it is not common there to take shower before you step into the pool! There was a plastic cup swimming in the childrens' pool, however during all the time we've spent there noone even bothered take it out.
toStaff is the least knowledgeble I've ever seen, and not welcoming at all. One waitress who was serving us was walking aroung and serving guests with an I-don't-give-a-s*** expression, another one was mixing orders all time and tried to give us drinks which we never asked for.
But the WORST thing is that I found a whole dirty wet paper tissue in my salad. A TISSUE IN MY SALAD!!!! I do not know, and I actually don' want to know how it happened, but it definately IS NOT what you expect from Grand Hyatt... And when the waitress was shown that, she removed the plate with reaction as if nothing ever happened saying that they will get me another one... Just shocked. The manager who came to apologize after about 15 minutes could not say anything definite, except for that he understands me. How can he understand that? Did he ever find a dirty tissue in his meal??
The only good thing about all that was a waiter Christian, who unlike all others was really willing to help and make our day. He was checking on the things we asked (we had gift cards which noone knew how to use them) him and was getting back to us able to answer all our questions.
To cut a long story short, this is highly NOT RECOMMENDED for recreation. There are many better places, even unranked Oasis Beach resort is much better than the five-star world-known brand...

We broke our journey back from Singapore with Qatar airways and decided to spend two nights in Doha. We spent one at the hotel and one in the Qatari desert (an experience of camel riding and sleeping in a tent in the desert and of course going on a 4x4 sand dune trip.
The hotel was lovely from the inside. The journey out to the hotel was through the central business district and there is a huge amount of building work going on. We had to carry in our own bags from the taxi (we did arrive at 5am) and it took ages for them to book us a room. We were first into breakfast at 6am but at least they had given us one of the rooms. The breakfast was fantastic and very good service.

it was very hot (48 degrees) and the pool was welcome relief although the views around the pool are the back of the hotel and a bit of clever garden design might have helped the stark look of it. The pool was great, although the chidlren's eyes did react to the very strong chlorine.

The "beach" is ok, but once in the water you realise you are in a clay pit. The soft squidgy building clay seeps through your toes and our girls were not too impressed! However the inflatable water assault course looked good but the "tide" was out. The girls still managed to jump on the water trampoline. We ended up moving to the pool to chill out.

Lunch was a slow service affair and there was definitely not enough shade to eat under and the pool side restuarant's air conditioning was so fierce we were too cold. However the food was good, but expensive.

We had afternoon tea and cake at the coffee shop and later went to get sandwiches and drinks for dinner and eat in the room. The two sandwiches, two drinks and a cake were the most expensive things I had purchased on our 3 week holiday!!!!!!

The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. We had interconnecting rooms and we managed to get stuff done on the free wi-fi in the rooms.

We did not get a chance to look at the gym or spa - children are not allowed. It seems as though children are tolerated but not necessarily encouraged (well, that was the feeling we got).

We were booked for two nights and checked out after the first night. We paid up for a room with a sea view, which seems to mean we paid up so we could see the noise makers rather than just hear them. The young men on jet skis began tearing up and down the canal just outside the hotel at about 4 and carried on for several hours. We had tried to sit on our balcony for a little while before dinner and found the noise unbearable. After dinner the noise continued, this time from the grounds themselves.

The rooms are very small for two people and the design and decor plain and uninspired. There are few towels and fewer towel racks, so hanging up a wet bathing suit or towel is a problem. The indoor pool was closed and the steam room didn't work.

The logistics of the hotel seem not to have been thought out. Our room was a very long walk to the elevator and then another very long walk to access the pool, which is not labeled on the lift, so access to the pool from the rooms is a challenge. The beach is a long way from the pool.

On the plus side, the service is very good, the staff friendly, and the food superb. Perhaps it's worth a try during the weekend, but take a pass on this hotel on the weekend.

I've been in Grand Hyatt Villas for 5 nights, this will never be repeated by any way, the villas are full of cars although the hotel reception gave me the villas rules which allow only one car per villa, but just mext to my villa there were 5 cars and I did not find a place to park my car, security is very weak thay ca not do nay thing just to apologize and thats it, they should call the police to control the intrance, on Friday 10 june what I saw a terrible view just close to my villa, I saw gays moving from one villa which had a cheap party, the vacation was terrible, annoying and a disaster.
The building is great but the atmosphere is like a low class disco, if u r going with ur family just be away from this villas and from those rude guys occupying the villas.
