“OK hotel, value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2011

I stayed in the hotel for 9 nights. Quite OK, nice view on upper floors, well equipped rooms. Internet is very slow though. Very "Arabic" design. Hard to find a good parking spot during daytime. Food is OK, nothing special...
Overall OK experience, not very good, certainly not bad.

Really well presented hotel and outstanding service. Free pick up and drop off to the airport. Great size rooms and a good, if not great location. Only drawbacks, no wi fi and pool is ok but not great.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2011

I was at Gloria Doha from 10th October to 16th October 2011.
NO.1. It is a nice hotel but we can get more better hotel in this price.
No 2 point is the internet connectivity was LAN cable in the rooms and my laptop only works on WIFI. so the wifi just available in the lobby with a very bad signal. I have requested staff but they cannot do anything. I was unable to use skype or check my emiails. I have to take my laptop and all other offices have WIFI so I use it there.
NO.3. The pool is on top but its not a big pool. its an oval with 1.5 mtr depths on all sides. The food was OK. the staff was helpfull.
NO.4. The bathrooms are small and the shower area is very small. You can hardly stand no movement towards left or right. furthermore they have only rain shower installed which is doing OK but the pressure is not sufficient for the leg area.
NO. 5. same the bathroooms have no muslim shower.
NO.6. but the bathrooms have all the toiletries which includes dental kit, shaving kit.sanatory bag, shower cap and extra.
NO.7. The hotel lobby and the reception area is small in size but its OK as when I was there less tourists were there else it will creat pressure and unnecessary crowd.
No.8. the hotel is located at the convinient place the Qatar Islamic Center is on walking distance. The cornish is at 5 minutes drive.
NO.9. There was no QIBLA direction marks in the rooms.
NO.10. The hotel walls seems to be very thin or something as the sound from the pumps of the shower and lobby movements can be heard easily which is annoying. Do stay away from the lift area else you will not be at ease in your room due to the sounds it make.
The overal experience was good.

Room Tip: take rooms away from the lift

We stayed for 3 nights at Gloria Hotel and were overall very satisfied. The location is initially disappointing, but then you realize that the hotel is only about 15 minutes from Souq Waqif and the Pearl monument, and 10 minutes from the Museum of Islamic Art and the Corniche. Plus, only 10 minutes distance to airport.
Initially, we were given a room facing an office builing – but when we requested another one, we were given a wonderful room on the 12th floor, facing the corniche and providing a lovely sight on Doha’s cityscape.
Room spacious, with sitting area. Window opens a bit. Plenty of toiletries that are replaced daily, complimentary slippers, daily newspaper and large water bottle. Enormous king size bed .... so comfortable that I’m now thinking that we need a larger bedroom to get such a bed.... Room and Bathroom spotlessly clean.
Some noise from a next-door construction site, but I suppose that is normal in Doha where you find construction sites everywhere, operating 24/7.
The roof-top pool was disappointing: concrete walls that create a claustrophobic atmosphere, no decoration whatsoever, no bar (maybe because of Ramadan?), plenty of noise from A/C. Too bad, given that with Doha’s heat, the pool could become every tourist’s sanctuary (esp. so during Ramadan)
The breakfast was quite good (not breathtaking though, with one local dish only (Foul Mesdames). No alcohol was served all day, but maybe that was because of Ramadan.
There was supposed to be free wi-fi in the reception, but we never managed to log on.
Complimentary car back to airport.
Staff polite, some were very efficient, others less.
All in all: would stay again.

We stayed only one night at Gloria Hotel, Doha, as a transit night to Bangkok. We were waited at the airport by a very luxury car, pick up and drop off included in room price. Hotel is immaculate, the personnel very kind and helpful. Very big room and very quiet. In bathroom all amenities you can need. Good restaurant and super breakfast, with many things to choose from. We didn't try the swimming pool, because we had no time... our stay was too short! .Walking distance from La Corniche and Museum of Islamic Art and a very short tip from the airport. My daughter was delighted... We definitely come back if we will return to Doha!

The staff were very friendly and couldn't help me enough. The hotel was emacculate and very nicely decorated. I really couldn't fault my stay here. Perfect for business trips and would even suit anyone just visiting Qatar. The roof swimming pool was great and the views from the top were fantastic!

I have stayed in the Gloria twice in the past 2 years and each time has been good. Rooms and beds and bathrooms are all super massive and come with standard huge TV and internet. It is consistently clean and staff are warm and friendly. It is conveniently located 5min walk from the museum of Islamic art and 15 min walk from Souk Waqif.

The best thing about this hotel though is the colossal amount of high-quality food they feed you in the restaurant which is consistently excellent. Moreover, the roof top pool is great, especially when you take the lift from the light lit hall ways to the penthouse - the elevator doors open and you are presented with a barage of arabian light glancing of the shimmering blue of the pool with the Corniche in the background. This is of course a great place to watch the sun set. Theres a gym and sauner up there too.

The Gloria is great. There are better hotels than this but then, hotels in Qatar only go from 4stars and up! I am sure I will visit this place again.
