“Lovely corniche”
Reviewed March 19, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful corniche with plenty of cafes & sights along it. Stop by the fish market, visit the Bait Al Baranda museum & the souk. At night colourful lights illuminate the white buildings.

“Take your time here.”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Look one side and watch the birds, fish and even turtles in the sea. Look the other side and see the old merchant houses that were once lapped by the sea. Discover the real Arabian feel of the sprawling souq and take in the heady smell frankinsence that fils the air.

“Breathe in the Atmosphere”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The Muttrah harbour and corniche has to be one of my most favourite places to visit. Because of this, whenever I am in Oman, I always choose to stay at one of the small hotels here. I love the quiet harbour which provides safe haven for the Sultan Qaboos Yacht and the occasional cruise ship. I love the scenic surrounding craggy hills, the Muttrah Fort.

The corniche has many attractions to offer. The fish market is always interesting in the early morning when it is alive with the early catches of the day. You can enjoy a breakfast coffee or tea at one of the tiny local cafes, a light snack from one of the bigger eateries near the souq, lunch or dinner at Sai Seas - Al Rafee who serve very good Indian food, or dine at La Brasserie on excellent French cuisine in the evening.

There is Ghalya’s Museum of Modern Art at one end of the corniche and Bait al-Baranda Museum towards the other end. Dominating the skyline of the corniche is the beautiful Al-Lawatiya Mosque, its’ official name Masjid al-Rasool al-A’tham (Mosque of the Great Prophet). The building is an attractive example of Islamic architecture with its turquoise mosaic-covered dome and blue minaret. Browse the many shops along the corniche and in Souq Al Dhalam; yes, they cater to the tourist but the locals shop here also, and the labyrinth of laneways in the souq are fascinating. So much more.

Or do what I do, take the time to breathe in the atmosphere by strolling the length of the corniche to Riyam Park. Wander in the early morning light when the fishing boats are returning or the evening, when the setting sun turns the surrounding hills a soft gold.

“Beautiful place to go for a stroll!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Lovely corniche to go for a walk. On one side you have the water with the docked cruise ships and on the other side you have the mountains and old houses and the old souk! Little restaurants are littered on the corniche. Food is cheap, but then so is the taste! Some restaurants are good. If you are travelling by car, then park in the spot you find. Parking is a problem.
