“Awesome adrenaline rushing pass”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

The best off-road track in Oman provides you with amazing views, rushing adrenaline, peaceful stops and picnic spots along the way. Wadi Badi Awf and the village nearby are real examples of rural life in Oman. Highly recommendable to do the trip from Nizwa to Muscat since you are then driving down which provides you with a better view and greater control while driving. You should only go when you have a 4WD and when it is not the rainy season. Make sure that you have a mobile with GPS, some food & lots of water with you. Just in case!!

“Nice place for canyoning”
Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

Nice place for canyoning. However a guide is needed for complete safety (rain and storm started while we were on the canyon w had to go back on our steps and come back on the nex day). The canyon is very appreciated for this experience: nice jumps, rock toboggans...

“Still a great Day out”

For a days fun and adventure your can't beat a walk down 'snake canyon. I have been down at least a dozen times. The via ferrata above the canyon is also worth a try if you have head for heights.

“Great adventure but be carefull”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

The Wadi Bani Awf track is a one off in Oman. the entire track of 57 KM is just magnificient and splendid. You enter the track from the road of Nakhal / Rustaq - and from the moment you enter you can fee the adventure. The road in 80 % no paved road and you definitly need a good 4 WD and a guide, if you can go with more than one car it is even better as sometimes you will feel 100% alone in this track except some goats from here and there and you will be in direct contact with the nature.
After passing through Wadi Bani Auf ( it would be a good ideas to stop there and to admire the little rocks on the road, you can even find quartz on the road), you will pass by the small snake canyon that is very nice to see, so park your car and have a little walk. You go straight and you will be actually driving on the mountain adge, going upto the mountain, down to a hill and from one mountain to another..... the road is not paved and there is steep paths sometimes that you really need to be carefull there.
Once you reach the snake canyon, park the car and go for a walk and a swim.....
Afterwards you would need to go up to hatta village again, there the road is 100% for 4 WD cars only and even these cars can not make it sometimes if you are not a good driver. After 15 KM of magnificient views but tricky driving you will reach the top of the mountain, Once there it is paved road again and you would need to go to Hamra and Nizwa to get back to Muscat
The views in this road is magnificient, just make sure to have some extra petrol in your car, allot of water and food and definitly a guide and a good driver.
As usual I am recommending the guide I've been with as he is quite knowledgable about this road, his name is Mohamad, phone : +96897197774 and e-mail : mohamed.albalushi@gmail.com
