The hotel was very good, staff very friendly, but beware as this is a moslem country the hotel does not have alcohol in the bar fridge.
The restaurant was very good and the location near the beach was very good

Qurum is the district of Muscat where many embassies are located, and is one of the best areas in the city. The Ramada Qurum Beach is not actually a beach front hotel but the beach is a few minutes walk away, and a cinema right next door. There are a number of large hotels nearby.

The room was a good size and neat although the interior design left a bit to be desired.
Wireless internet was free and the speed was ok.
The fitness centre on the ground floor was well equipped and although it was not very big should be sufficient for this size of hotel.

For dining only the ground floor restaurant and coffee shop to choose from. The buffet breakfast was ok, nothing special with a fair selection of warm dishes as well as cold meats, cheese, fruit and pastries.

The factor that takes this hotel from a TA average (3) to very good (4) is the Staff. The Omani's at the reception were very friendly and speak excellent English. Nothing was too much trouble and they really make the guests feel welcome. They are eager to promote their country and are knowledgable about events and attractions.

Having travelled to Muscat many times, I have stayed in a number of hotels it is fair to say that the Ramada is not the necessarily the best one in town but well located and very decent. With the only real negative being the limited dining options.

Muscat is a city worth visiting. Built between the mountains and the sea, it is well landscaped, clean and has a very relaxed feel to it....and is not dominated by high-rise towers. The people are friendly and hospitable.

Ramada Hotel Muscat

Review Date: 24/03/11 to 28/03/11

We arrived, after a flight from London via Dubai, at the hotel about 04.30. We had not booked a room for that night but were offered a room at half price on our arrival.

The hotel staff was, without exception, polite and friendly and always ready to help. Our room on the 2nd floor was clean, airy and sufficient for our needs. The WiFi connection was free.

The small swimming pool was empty for maintaince work during our stay so we visited the beach which was about 5 minutes walk away. The beach was sandy, clean with hardly anyone using it.

The restaurant provided a good menu to choose from and both the service and quality of that food was good. We would especially like to mention the head waiter Tuan, a Sri Lankan who not only knew his job but was a fountain of knowledge of what to see and do.

The hotel, situated in the diplomatic section of Muscat is about 15 minutes by taxi from the old town. We took advantage of the restaurant head waiter, Tuan – a Sri Lankan who was a fountain of local knowledge. The information which he provided was, as there was little information in the hotel (e.g. day trips, things to see etc.) extremely valuable and, this, coupled with the high standard of the hotel staff and food, made our stay in Muscat extremely pleasant.

Taking into account all the above we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel..

This hotel is good value for the money. Clean no frills rooms. Helpful staff. Not great public areas (restaurants etc). Close to the beach, which is a good job as the pool is shut for a while, something they neglet to tell you on booking! I wouldn't recommend for a holiday hotel or a romantic break, but it is practical and clean for business.

We booked this hotel for a week's stay in Muscat. This was the second hotel in 2 days because we had a nightmare staying at the Holiday Inn the previous night. So when we moved into Ramada, it was like WoW!

The service in this hotel was just outstanding. Right from the reception to the chef in the restaurant remembers you by name, taste and what you prefer eating. Room service was way better than other "big name" hotels in Muscat for the price I paid. Rooms are big, spacious and well equipped.

This is located 5-10 mins from the beach and in the middle of a plush location with all major hotels, business centers, and embassies.

The "high" factor was the excellent service and attention. There wasnt a "low factor" apart from a small swimming pool.

As I mentioned earlier, the chef and staff in the restaurant are just amazing. Although the hotel doesnt have many in-house restaurants the food quality is 4/5.
