It's a nice, clean hotel but the neighourhood is a little off and dull. There is no pool and no bar but a decent breakfast is included. So it is a good hotel well worth its money (for Oman!) if you just want a place to sleep between business or lesure trips elsewhere.

The hotel website presents a glossy image that differs somewhat to what I found. The hotel is relatively new and in a 'backawater' of the city some 20 minutes (traffic premitting!) from the airport. On the plus side the room was clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, the staff very polite and rates reasonable by Muscat standards (about 90 OMR inc taxes per night) .
I would say the hotel is most suitable for a one night transit stopover but if you want to stay any longer look elsewhere. There are no facilities, no pool, no garden, no lounge areas to sit except in your room. The internet worked in the room with a cable only after I called the IT guy and they have blocked use of Skype.
The neighbourhood is surrounded by busy roads and there is very little to see or do so we relied on taxis to take us to the Intercontinental or other hotels for a bar. Beware of taxi rip offs, they don't have meters but an airport to hotel run s/b around 6 - 10 OMR.

New hotel in Al Ghubrah. In terms of location - if you've rented a car (recommended when in Muscat); this hotel is very close to the main highway, the Sultan Qaboos Street, which gives you access to just about everywhere in Muscat. Clean, friendly staff, comfortable stay. Internet is FREE - just ask for a cable to connect your laptop to the internet socket within your room. There are a few barbers just across the road in front, as well as hairdressers a couple of minutes walk away. There is also a dry cleaners/laudrette in front (around 1 OR per item of clothing to be dry cleaned). Several restaurants and eating outlets nearby (Indian, Thai, Indonesian, Lebanese etc) or you can eat at the hotel's restaurant which serves a huge range of dishes (from Chinese, Indian to western cuisine). The food there is ok but don't expect 5-star hotel taste! Good for those emergency hunger pangs! The majority of its waiters are Indonesian - speaks enough English to communicate well with. In general, a great hotel to stay in if you're on a tight budget.
