“Authentic Armenian food in the downtown”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Foregoing the anticipated crowds for dinner time, we opted for lunch here recently. Wonderful atmosphere with beautiful carvings, upholstery, and other Armenian/Lebanese decor from the early 20th century. We may have been a little early as the place was nearly empty at 1 p.m. Food preparation was thoughtful and authentic but not outstanding as I had been led to expect from other reviews. Prices were also a bit high though not outrageously so. Recommended for a different Beirut dining experience.

“Mayrig deserves to be one of the best in Beirut”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We had always heard that Beirut's restaurants are famous.
Therefore we checked the top restaurant lists to make a program for our evening meals.
We realized that Mayrig was one of the best restaurants in Beirut and made a resrvation .
This is a must, as the place was completely full. Mayrig is located in a lovely house and the clients eat in the main hall or separate rooms. The decoration is very tasteful.
Even the menu is very beautiful.
As we are from Turkey, all the food were clearly understandable and we chose easily.
We had su börek, mutabbel, eggplant kibbeh, dolma (stuffed vegetables) , lentil köfte, hummus which were all really very good. We had arak ( Ksara) with the meal which was again excellent.
The espresso at the end was the best coffee I had in Lebanon.

“Original armenian food”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

I have visited this restaurant on multipule occasions but with some time between each visit because there is not much variaty in the menu once you have made a tasting bench. The food is always good and tasty. the various Kebbe dishes, the minced meat pizzas, the cooked dishes with one specific attention to the meat balls with cherry sauce (exquisite), Be prepared for some spiced food and specific tastes. The homemade desserts prepared hot are delicious (Kneffeh). the spot is nested in a closed alley on Saifi street next to 'Wild Discovery' travel agency. You need to book for your table. You have some semi-privative areas inside the restaurant where you can gather your guests. A little bit noisy at evenings. The value for quality is acceptable with a ticket of 50 usd per person without alcohol.
