Beautiful and well worth visiting - an excellent variety of stores showcasing Lebanese and international designers, chic cafes. If your budget doesn't stretch to shopping in Saab and Chanel, even a quiet walk is fantastic. Absolutely worthy of Beirut's one-time rep as 'Paris of the Middle East'.

I did not visit Beirut during civil war. I just had seen some photos: City was over! Because of this reason, i had some hesitations before i arrived there. But i can say that Beirut is reborn: With Gemmayzeh, Saifi, Hamra, Souks and finally Solidere. Actually Solidere is the company who planned and redeveloped Beirut Central Area. Due to thier service, the district was named by company. It's lovely. Architecture is elegant. Restaurants, cafes, bistros are full of customers. The best thing over there is dining out. Highly recommended!

There are some great restaurants, bars and shops here, but the areas as a whole is a little sterile and lacking in character. Definitely good as a place to stay on a trip, but make sure you explore outside this area as well!

The renovation is spectacular of course ,it is worth driving around and even better just walking all over.Prepare to be amazed especially if you know what damage the civil war left
