Review of Hamra Street

Hamra Street
Reviewed August 10, 2014

This street is hugely stressful in my view. A hassle of choked traffic with little of interest except a plethora of money changers and cafes (incl you mainstream chains like Costa, Starbucks, Gloria Jeans and Caribou.)
The noise of horns is unrelenting.
I was glad to leave this area.

If you haven't visited Hamra, then you've never visited Beirut. Hamra Street is the most famous street in the city, it has everything you need (Universities, Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes, Cinemas...)
Visiting Hamra street during the day is different than visiting it during the night, I recommend visiting the street during both times in order to enjoy Hamra the most.

Hamra streets stretches for about 1.5 km long and it the Main Street of Hamra district that it is about 3km sq. Very tiny but it has the widest variety of everything . I am talking about life style, people, food , accommodation , bars and pubs, educational institutions. It is a combination of residential and commercial place. The only place in Beirut that has a the biggest concentration of hotels . Everything in Hamra is walking distance from where you will be staying : movies, 24 hrs min markets, restaurants, bars, pubs, coffee shops, souvenirs shops ,....even the corniche esplanade is s walking distance from Hamra . If you like crowded but nice place , you will like Hamra . Cosmopolitan atmosphere , so everyone is a stranger in Hamra . That what makes Hamra welcome every single stranger. Again if you are single traveler or part of a group you will not feel alone in Hamra . Explore the small alleys ways and what enchanted atmosphere it hides between its narrow walls.

The only street that takes you back in time.
You can walk and enjoy your evening, parking is tough to find though.
