We went there for a quick stop. This is obvioulsy the rich area of Beirut where all the French Lebanese hang out. The square was full of nannies and maids running after rich kids while their parents looked on from a coffee terasse.

This looks like Europe. It could be France, it could be Italy.

I see no reason to hand out there if you are a tourist as there is so much to d in Beirut that is so much more authentic.

You should still walk past there to go to the Mosque or to martyr's square but don't fall for the tourist trap and get coffee or shisha there as the prices are inflated and you will only get half the experience.

It is also one of the rare places where you will find souvenirs but the prices are a rip off.

This is the square from which you will access the St. george and al-omari mosque so I suppose it is a good idea to go there and enjoy a coffee, ice-cream or a meal on different restaurants over there. There is a big clock tower in the middle with two huge rollex clocks on. It's nice in the evening.

This place is lovely and full of history. It has a very French feel to it. I think parliament is just around the corner so there is lots of military around. There are some beautiful mosques in this area and also quite a few nice restaurants.
