“A true 5* experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2010

Impecable in every aspect. Speedy check-in, smiley service, great atmosphere, fantastic lobby (especially with the pianist playing in the afternoon), spacious room, comfortable king-size bed, full size bathtub + shower, fast internet. Excellent location, in close proximity to my client.
But high standards come at a price, and is indeed too pricey. The most expensive mini-bar I have found in all my trips. 10 EUR (20.000 lebanese liras) for a 0.33 cl bottle of water ...

I stayed here for two nghts in March on a business trip.

Nice lobby and reception. Excellent staff, friendly and helpful.

Rooms are large, spacious, and well equipped.

The well stocked mini bar is very expensive - £9 for a miniature, £6 for a beer.

The Internet access is £20 a day,

There is a very nice bar on 16th floor with views over the city towards downtown and the sea.

Good range of restaurants and great health club.

If you are on expenses, its great, very pricey for independent travellers.

All round a very good hotel.

We booked the New Year's Eve "VIP places" for four family members on the New Year's Eve 2009-2010. The cost for the family (diner, no accomodation) was USD 900,--. When we arrived, we found that that hotel simply forgot about us, let the whole 16th floor restaurant to the Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut. They paid 25000,-- LBP (approx USD 167,--) per person, that is much less than we did. but we did not get any place. The hotel simply kicked us out and let us to have a diner in an empty room next door. The hotel manager did not have a courtesy to offer any reimbursement, even if we did not get any of the offered services (show with live music, belly dancer and DJ). A simple chinese restaurant diner, the food was cold, simply worse nothig.

If you can, look elsewhere in Beirut, but avoid Sin El Fil and its hotels, and in particular the Metropolitan Hotel (Habtoor Hotels group).

Metropolitan Palace is a good elegant business hotel; the rooms are clean and well equipped with particular attention to details typical of the Arabs (The owners are from Dubai ). Service in general is good and breakfast ok . Great spa and excellent services. The position is not the best if you come to Beirut for tourism as the city center is a bit far from here. Maybe too expensive but worth while.
