I visited from June 1 to 17 2012. The hotel is perfectly located in Hamra. This is were you want to be. Its one street down to Hamra, where you have all the pubs, restaurants and café. Its very convinient becuase you can walk and buy stuff you need (water, liquor ....)
Although beirut is very noisy, in your room you don't hear anything !!!

The staff are very nice and helpfull. I would recommend anyone to stay there as its the best value you get for your dollar. The bathroom are big and clean. The bed is confortable.

Wifi is a bit expensive.. but its the case in beirut.

Apart from the fact that the taxi driver couldn't find the place. The hotel seemed warm and welcoming until I realised that it was because it was so dark and full of people. They did not have the room type I booked which was a hassle. The front office staff were not that concerned and could be characterised as supercilious bureaucrats. The room was pleasant and the bathroom a good size. The furniture seemed a mix of different styles from modern to 1950's which was slightly strange. The lounge /bar staff were very good at hide and seek, you wanted a drink you went and found them!
However the breakfast staff were lovely and even opened a few minutes early when we had an early start.

It is a nice cosy accomodation in the heart of town. Shopping centres are nearby. Rooms are very neat and clean. Bathrooms also of good standard. Staff is co-operative but language problem is there. All amenities expected of a good star hotel are there. Although getting vegetarian food is a problem.

Hotel is of good standard and spa is excellent. Breakfast good. Staff friendly although some a little less than wholly helpful e.g. was given wrong directions to spa, egg station not always attended, water not delivered to room etc

For the cost of the hotel would have expected faultless service and not to have to chase these type of things.

We stayed in Le Commodore for 4 nights as part of our Easter package tour of Lebanon. The hotel is located in a busy area Hamra with a lot of cafes, bars and restaurants. It not even far from downtown Beirut (25 minutes walk to Place D' Etoile) and Beirut Corniche, although to go there by walk is more complicated than to go to downtown Beirut. The breakfast was poor taking into account the hotel class. The hotel have an Italian and a Japanese restaurant. We had dinner at the Italian one and the food was good. The hotel personnel is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here for 5 nights all up as part of 6 day package tour of Lebanon so can't comment on value for money. This hotel was the base for most journalists during the civil war and Hamra does not appear to have been as badly affected as central Beirut. I thought the location was good - Hamra has lots of shops and 15-20 minute walk to the corniche. Taxi ride back uphill was 10-15 US$. I thought the room was looking a little bit tired but the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and I slept really well. Some iniital problems with getting hot waterpressure in my room but these were quickly resolved by reception. The food was average to good although Lebanese choices were far better than European ones, although their cheeseburger was fantastic. The staff in the breakfast restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful as were the reception staff, particularly when I had to get some documents scanned urgently. Breakfast was fine - omelette available on request, cereals, coffee, small range of hot food such as mushrooms, chicken sausages. Due to awful weather with torrential rain, and even snow on the coast, I spent one whole day just hanging around my room and the hotel and found it comfortable. My only big gripe is the wifi. Like most of Lebanon, including Starbucks, it's expensive (16 US$ per 24 hours) and slow (skype not possble) and only available in lobby area. Even wired internet is only available for a fee. Although I did stay in a hotel in Harissa for a night where wifi was free but still limited to lobby. Given the difficulties most Lebanese face with Internet access and electricity reliability ( regular short blackouts) I feel a bit guilty complaining about this but worth knowing for other travellers. Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would return.

Room Tip: Higher floors and on road side for distant glimpse of the sea.
