Attraction details
Owner description: Described as the "Greenwich Village" or "Soho" of Beirut, Gemmayze is a residential neighbourhood that has emerged as one of Beirut's trendiest districts. It is bordered by Saifi Village/Downtown Beirut to the west and Achrafieh to the south and its main thoroughfare, rue Gouraud, contains many popular restaurants and bars. The district has some beautiful traditional as well French-mandate architecture and is charming day and buzzing by night.

This lively street is full of restaurants, live music clubs, bars, cafes, bistros. On the other hand buildings are classy & reflect the mediterranean culture. I recommend everyone to visit this street and also spend a few hours in a cafe/bistro/restaurant/bar.

Gemmayzeh is a long thin street with a great number of bars and restaurants. It has a feeling a little like the backstreets of Nice - every place has a different atmosphere, and there is a huge array of different styles - both of atmosphere and food. There's smarter places next to dingy bars with live music - a real variety and my favourite part of Beirut.

They say "don't judge a book by it's cover" - same goes for Gemmayzeh! The street may look a little old and beaten, but there are SO many hidden gems on this street - it would take you a year to find them all! Take your pick from the restaurants, pubs, clubs & bars - this street has it all!

Gemmayzeh Street is fun to go to with your friends... There is a variety of restaurants and pubs of different themes, music styles, and atmosphere... Better walk through the street than pass through it by car because there's traffic jam especially on the weekend.. yet there is a big parking lot half way through it and there's also valet parking for famous pubs and restaurants... Go have fun and enjoy yourselves with the friendly and joyous Lebanese people!
