“Not to Miss”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

We were there on Tuesday July 3rd. The place was full and they had a singer that added to the atmosphere. People were singing and some were dancing and clearly they were enjoying themselves. The owners (a young couple) were making sure their guests were well looked after. The food was excellent. I recommend the "Steak and Frites" and the Grilled Calamari. Cru has also good wine list and I recommend the Chateau Belle Vue. If you have a free night in Beirut, Cru is not to miss. Enjoy.

“Relaxing and welcoming”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

The owners of Cru welcome every guest as if they were friends. The Lebanese wines available by the glass and the bottle are excellent. For a starter, try the calamari. It was tender, not soft and gross, and tasted fantastic. For entrees, go with the steak. The steak salad is a welcome blend of a reasonable-sized portion of meat and healthy greens. The steak frites seemed to be a tenderloin, not your standard hangar steak. For that reason, it surpasses most versions of steak frites. You can substitute the frites for mashed or baked fingerling potatoes. The vibe of Cru is relaxed and friendly. They play upbeat lounge, but not so loudly as to intrude on conversations. The interior is done in a creative contemporary design. If you are in Beirut for only a few days, it's definitely worth a visit. If you are in town for longer, you should be sure to introduce yourself to the owners.

“Wine choice not as varied as expected”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

A very cozy place for a quite/intimate dinner. Food is better than the average for most items. Only disappointment is the wine list. We were going expecting a huge variety and a possibility to taste different brands. (It's a wine bar, right?). Quite a bummer when you end up narrowing it down to one bottle, at a very pricey cost too.
