“If you’re a fan of French bistort ...go Couqley”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

It’s a pleasant and warm frenchy bistort with good food good staff with a different kind of crowd ,a fine dining place where you can talk and listen to edith piaff while sipping your glass of wine in a cozy atmosphere, I tried the “magret de canard” with potato as a main dish it was perfectly done, the foie gras with cranberry and toasted bread with figs was one of the best I ever tried in Beirut ..Its highly recommend to try it but don’t forget to make a reservation it’s always fully booked

“French Bistro”

Good food, authentic flavors, good service. A little pricy, but fair. Can't say I adore the place but it's good.

“Lovely French bistro”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

We have been staying in Beirut for the last week and have visited Couqley twice, so they must be doing something right! Cougley is a 'hidden gem' in the bustling vibrancy of Gemmayzeh.

We ate very well on both occasions - their 'frites' are wonderful! The steak was cooked very well; as was chicken and duck confit. The decadent side dish of spinach gratinee is not to be missed.

Service was polite, attentive and fast. We only had one dessert which was a creme brulee. This is served slightly differently than in some other countries - in a flat, wide dish rather than a small ramekin, but this increases the surface area of the caramel so there's nothing wrong with that!

There's lots of French bistros in this part of town, but I believe that Cougley is one of the best. Definitely worth a visit. Bookings essential.
