Visited in October 2012 and the collection of pre-Islamic (and pre-Christian) objects is pretty much unrivalled.

It's also a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of life outside. Also, don't miss the hourly video about the reconstruction of the museum following the civil war.

However, be aware that it shuts on Mondays.

Well laid out with some great items. Don't miss the video they show on how the museum survived and it's restoration.

I visited the museum after visiting the Baalbeck and it was good to see some of the treasures so well displayed. It is a small two storey museum, but the antiquities are very well displayed. There is also a film in English you can see. There is a lift for those who need it and an excellent shop selling good quality souvenirs.

The museum is gorgeous and very professionally designed. The artifacts are high quality and well displayed. I enjoyed the movie before hand that showed how they preserved many of their treasures during the civil war and how others were damaged and restored. The museum is two floors, but fairly small and can be seen in an hour for most people.

Like most government-run sites in Lebanon, the cost was modest. There were many sarcophagi, statutes, jewellery, vases, etc. from Phoenician, Greek, Roman, etc. eras on two floors. Allow close to 2 hours.
