“The Hilton resort in Kuwait lack cleanliness and good sanitacion”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2009

House cleaners are not well trained to keep the expected high standards from the Hilton.
Linens and especially towels (80% of the time) have dirty look to them. This was mentioned to the house keeping manager and he promised to sort out the problem.
Cleaning crew use Pillow cases to dry dishes which are normally not cleaned properly
Gap under front door (which was fixed after 5 months from the date I checked into the Hilton resort) allows dust to enter the villa. Doors in an environment like Kuwait's must be well sealed and air tight to prevent dust from invading the rooms.
Hilton supplied furniture and utensils are of low quality and at best incomplete.
Response to maintenace problems is excellent.
Outside porches are rarely cleaned even after heavy sand storms.
I will not recommend this hotel for a friend for pleasure or tourrism.

If you don't know Kuwait, it's dry (as in: no alcohol) and it isn't cheap. That goes for the Hilton, too. I was here on business, to meet customers and give a presentation, and I will say that the conference facilities are above average and the conference people care about it going well.

The restaurant does a good breakfast and there was a very good seafood buffet the night I ate there. The Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant is good, but lunch is only available there Thursday to Saturday. There's a pizzeria and a Starbucks -- I can't comment because I didn't try either of them.

There's a beach which isn't bad by the standards of the region and there are grounds which are well tended and may have excellent facilities -- I didn't have time to explore them. Rooms are sizeable and comfortable.

Overall, it's okay. But is it worth £200 per night just to sleep there? If you don't have to be there, you may find better value elsewhere.

The Hilton is a long way south of the main part of Kuwait city, 30 minutes plus dependent on traffic, and therefore not good if you have business in the KC centre itself, as the traffic in and out of KC central is manic, but it is ideally suited if you are working in the oil plants in that area.

Clean, neat and well air-con'd, the only issue was noise very early in the morning. The tiled corridors transmit the "early prayer" coming and goings, so that from 4 onwards it is difficult to sleep. Although I found a pair of ear-plugs resolved that problem.

It is only 20 minutes from the airport, and the courtesy transport so well planned, I used them both ways for the first time ever, without a problem.

I stayed at the Hilton Kuwait Resort in the spring of 2006 and had a very nice stay. The hotel sent a nice courtesy car to pick me up and bring me back to the airport even though I was there for just one night. I had originally booked a "Studio" room and was disappointed to see that it was a Courtyard-esque room that had a decent kitchen with sitting area and bed that wasn't that . . . luxurious (that sounds really pretentious). This wasn't really what I expected but the website wasn't very clear what's what. Anyway, I called the front desk and they helpfully moved me to a much, much nicer hotel room in the main building. It was my own fault for booking the wrong room but the hotel staff were very accommodating. I had a very nice stay and ate at a couple of the restaurants there. The Blue Elephant there is not unlike the Blue Elephant in Fulham Broadway in London but can't really complain because the food is pretty good. Just be warned that you get no beers with your fish cakes as Kuwait is dry.

The room I ended up with was very nice with a view over the beach. The bed was your nice Hilton bed and very comfy. The bathroom was large and had a tub with separate shower and a bidet. I spent a short time on the beach and it was fine -- nothing special. The pool area was quite nice though.

One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is a little way from Kuwait City. I took a taxi into town a couple times (the hotel was helpful in booking a cab) and it was a bit of a drive but not that far. There are a few hotels closer to - and in - town that are nicer but the downtown area is totally under construction which can get a bit tedious.

All in all I would certainly stay at the Hilton Resort again (being sure to book a proper hotel room and not a studio apartment!). And now that I see it's just 30k hhonors points I may just stay there again soon!
