“One of the Best in Kuwait”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

I have just returned from a two night stay at JW Marriot and the experience is remarkable. I have booked for one executive room. Upon check-in, I was offered a free-upgrade to executive suit ( It has a small living room) which I kindly decline due to the unpleasant view. The room is well maintained and clean. The room has a bed, a sofa, a desk , a crib for our baby. The WIFI in the hotel is free of charge inside the room and the entire hotel. The bathroom has bathtub and a shower and it has a brand amenities, which I don’t recall at the moment.
The hotel is located in a very nice area, a shopping mall ( Al-Salahiya) for luxurious brands is attached to the hotel.
We had a breakfast two times and found it was delicious and the buffer was diverse and changing every day. We dint get the time to use the club lounge but it is opened 24 hour but the services finished by midnight. you can have breakfast ( 10:30), snack up to 19:30. Also, you can take what you like to go.
The hotel located next to a cemetery and the view to the cemetery for some is not pleasant. That is why we decline the free-upgrade to the executive suit because it has a view on the cemetery.

Actually disagree with the earlier review - I thought the staff were one of the real plus points of this hotel. I stayed here for one night in March, but have visited here a couple of times before. Security is high, but once you get there the scanner at the main entrance, the welcome is effusive.
I went straight to dinner at the Sushi restaurant, at the far end of the lobby - this is really high quality and always enjoyable, if not inexpensive. Rooms are pleasant and all you would expect from a decent hotel - the view over the cemetery is a little disconcerting however.
Breakfast is extensive, as was the lunch buffet, which did seem to attract plenty of regulars. Decent selection of seafood, salads and then more hearty meat dishes for those who wish for it.
The staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you - Kuwait is not a frequent stop of mine but when I do visit, I will certainly stay here.

Recently discovered that I'd be spending more time in Kuwait due to work. Was recommended the jw by a fellow traveller. I have to say it was above my expectations great service, decent well kept rooms, excellent location with respect to getting to clients and walking distance to food options I.e. chillies, leila etc And if you like that kind of thing an adjoining mall

Negatives, the chauffeur service seems to be complimentary therefore they ask you to car share.. I didn't really want to wait around and had intended to pay for that pleasure which was a touch annoying.

Beyond this I was quite content, breakfast is inc and there is a great spread I will be back and I suspect this would be my regular haunt for the foreseeable future

The hotel is relatively quiet on all my trips here and the staff are always helpful. Some of the rooms overlook the cemetery so you might want to request another view. This is one of the more expensive hotels in Kuwait.

The hotel is located centrally in Kuwait city, the rooms are pretty good and spacious however the overall experience was a total let down...

The reception is strangely on the 2nd floor and when i went to check in the systems were down with no back up, booking for non smoking room totally ignored, took 45 minutes to check in.

The front desk is very cold in its response, had a meal at the Indian restaurant, food was no great shakes, more over they refused to put the tab on the room , the reason they citied was that no deposit was left while checking in, this I found really strange…

Was offered a taxi to take me to a venue and told that I was to pay KD5, however the driver took double the amount as I asked him to turn back within 5 minutes of departing to pick up the mobile from my hotel. This cab service is the one for the hotel….

Has the potential to be a great hotel only if they revamped the management/staff…

I have stayed here many times, however my last visit was the first for a number of years. The place is, just spectacular. The service is just so attentive and spot on. As i first approached the main desk they appear to operate a triage service. A wonderful smiling person popped up and asks so politely what you want. After that it just pure wonderment.

Cameron a lovely Sri Lankan guy took care to cater to all my (modest) wants at breakfast, he is a tribute to the service levels at this hotel, not in your face but seemingly knowing what you are thinking. I had a real late flight, they gave me a 17.00 check out, amazing.

The hotel itself is very well located. There is a shopping mall attached and is a must visit. Keep walking through the mall bear right at about two o'clock and you will come across a really nice place to eat out. Lebanese, Italian food, but really the best part is the atmosphere in this area. Try it for dinner, you can't go wrong. Equally the hotel itself has fantastic food over a number of restaurants.

This is an expensive hotel but, probably worth it. One complaint, the sun deck needs regular cleaning, those pigeon mess everywhere, come on Mr Manager, its the only fault in the hotel.....

I'm in this hotel as a write this review, staying in an Executive suite. The rooms are clean and serviced very well, but they are showing their age. The service in the hotel tries to go the extra mile, but somehow it seems just a little forced. The Executive lounge is well appointed with free ''soft'' drinks (as its Kuwait) all day and a evening snack buffet. The snacks are ok, but nothing major. The service in the lounge is the best in the hotel and excellent, all without the forced feeling from the rest of the staff.

The room service menu is the basic staple of all hotels so no surprise and the prices are a little higher than expected.

In general the restaurant prices are very high for the quality provided, without Alcoholic beverages (because they cant) it is still the same price you would expect to pay with drinks.

Breakfast is included in my room rate, I first tried the Executive lounge and this was ok, just a subset of what is available in the main restaurant, where I have and will continue to visit for the rest of mu trip.

The Steak house seems to be designed to chase people away unless you are in a group. There are very few 2 person tables and they are in the middle of everything, so if you are a business person traveling alone and want a quiet corner, it wont happen.

In general the hotel is overpriced in nearly every respect, however for the meetings I have this week it is perfectly placed (walking distance) and therefore the perfect location

Room Tip: The side of the hotel looking over the graveyard is best, very very quiet...like the dead :-)
